Marriott and II .. help please...

I have a Marriott Gold for 09 for which there are no plans .. However my son and his girlfriend are going walkabout in Australia for 6 months or so and I decided I would gift them the week by way of an II Exchange. So rang II and they said I needed a Marriott Res number ....fine . Then I rang Marriott who tell me that all Gold weeks are reserved until the end of the year except for weeks in April.
No problem ..reserve me an April week for deposit .Not possible they say because I am within the " ?? " period !
So have been thinking about this all afternoon...could I transfer my 09 week to 2010 then "bank it " and go back to II and ask for an 09 week in Australia ...possible ? Or any other solutions ? Many thanks

What a pickle!
Call Marriott Owners Services BACK and ask them to give u a 'pre-deposited' week as u can not take a week that will give u a deposit in flex change....and for the future - what weeks can u reguest as a Gold owner?
There are no fall weeks u can get now?

If they say they don't have any at your home resort, ask them to deposit a 'substitute week' from another resort as a one time exception and swear to them that u will not mess up next year.....go get 'em!

On another note - thought of u today as I lost (then found!!!) the back for the Irish/American flag pin u gave me last year that I wear on my ID badge at work - looking forward to our meeting again in June.

All Gold Weeks after May 1st are fully booked but think I have enough points to get him 4 nights in a Marriott (plus a 5th free !) How to transfer the booking to him might be difficult though.
Also would my idea of transferring my 09 week to 2010, and going back to II for a Nov week work ? Or even one of my 2010 weeks ?

You cannot "transfer" your '09 week to '10. You must use or loose your '09 week. Marriott "bulk deposits" weeks at various times throughout the year and quite possibly did so at your home resort. This is what Pat meant when she said to call Marriott and ask for one of those weeks. They are already deposited with II and would have more value than any currently unreserved week available.

Example: Marriot may have bulh deposited many January or September weeks with II because nobody wanted to reserve them, and Marriott didn't want the weeks to go unused. Marriott could theorectically assign you one of those weeks, and II would place it into your account ofr future exchanges.
