  • I bought a second Marriott

Last night I won an e-bay auction for a summer Harbour Point on Hilton Head :

2 BR MARRIOTT 5 Star HILTON HEAD Summer Week TIMESHARE - eBay (item 270371885153 end time Apr-16-09 18:30:00 PDT)

I do not think I could have gotten that price before the ressesion.

I have since learned that Harbour Point does not have ROFR so I guess it is mine. I am concerned about using the 2009 week though. I doubt the week will be closed, recorded and transfered by Marriott in time for the week to be in my name. We just got back from Grande Ocean and I would have rather deposited this years week or had the current owner use it.

So anybody seen a summer Marriott week on HH sell for less?

Does it really matter if anyone ever bought one for a few dollars less, or if another auction closes next week at less than yours?

If it closes and everything turns out as promised- it looks like you got a great deal!

Enjoy it! Just don't share your "success story" with all the other poor owners at the pool- they could choke on their umbrella drinks!

Does not matter at all, except the hunter in me like gratification!

I do try to follow sale prices but could not find much on this resort. I do know the 8,000 I spent on my Manor Club seemed like a good deal at the time... not so good now.

      Thanks Ray

Understood.. Here goes... (Best I can do as I'm in resales and hating that number.... Hard to make earn a commission on a number that low!)..

Don't second guess yourself- there are plenty of frustrated people out there who will do that for you just to make themselves feel better.. Just enjoy! As I see it, you have two great ownerships and kept thousands of dollars in your pocket to spend on something else- Marriott sales people must be hating you right about now!

Go buy a new boat with the $$$$ you saved.... You'll help the economy- and you deserve it!

You can try to get the seller to make a reservation for you. Even if they can get you a summer week now, the problem is you may become an official owner too late to deposit it outside of Flexchange. I am not sure if the season's calendar extends past August.

Worst comes to worse, you can either make a Flexchange deposit, use the week or be a favorite friend or family member (in which case you're sure to get more ) and treat someone to a great vacation.

Oh- congrats on what might very well be a record low. I am sure owners there would be if they heard what you paid.

And- while 8K for Manor Club might be a little less in today's market, if you've already enjoyed use for even one year either there or via a trade you've gotten your money's worth from the slight price difference, so don't look back with regrets.

To the OP, I am pretty sure this is a fixed week resort - so your week doesn't 'float' - u have purchased week 32 in that particular unit.

              Log into https://www.my-vacationclub.com/

and then look under this resort for the calendar
              https://www.my-vacationclub.com/comm...bourpoints.pdf

It only shows Saturday to Saturday check-in and says the owner of week 52 also owns/get usage of week 53 if there is one.

Yes the week is a fixed week 32. I am just not sure about being able to use it and I doubt everything will be in order in time to deposit it.

I'm sure I will be able to figure out somthing.

IMHO, that's a great price on what should be an August week on HHI. I wish I could use a week like that in my portfolio. Heck, I'd be tempted to give away one of the weeks we currently own if I could find a May week at one of the Marriott's on HHI for that price.

Dang, why you get me to talking and put that thought in my head.

Big YEAHHH! on it being a fixed Aug week. (At least it would be for me.) The second week of August. Typically before school starts, but after swim team season (we live in one of those crazy swim team areas), and after summer school and many summer day camp sessions. You can tell I'm tied to the school calendar.

I know this thread says that the resort has no ROFR but the listing did say that Marriott had it. Just curious if you were able to close on this deal or did they exercise the ROFR? Looks like such a great deal. I'm looking for one too. Congrats.

Add was wrong. i contacted the seller and he confirmed no ROFR. The deed was just recorded last week, now I wait for Marriott to get this week assigned to me.
