25th Anniversary in Hawaii

    25th Anniversary in Hawaii

    My wife and I would love to spend our 25th wedding anniversary in one of the Marriott's vacation resorts in Hawaii next year -2007. We own one week of Sports season at Cypress Harbour.

    What's our chances of exchanging that week, and when should we do it? Do we reserve first and then deposit or what?

    Your advice/tip would be greatly appreciated.

    The first thing to do is to reserve the BEST week during your season at CH.... does it include any holiday weeks such as Easter, President's week?
    I know II gives a 'bonus week' to Grande Vista deposits for Feb 1 thru Easter so that would be the time frame with highest demand for Orlando then Christmas/New Year's then the summer - mid June thru mid August.

    Then deposit the week with II and put in a request.
    If it is just the 2 of you traveling, consider accepting a 1BR for your 2BR deposit....as many people lock-off their units.
    Also, giving several resorts/locations in Hawaii and a range of dates that you can go will help get your exchange.
    And putting your request in 14 months ahead will also increase your chances - your request is in when people start depositing. (if it is already past that time....sooner is better then later)

    So, when did you want to travel and what week will you be depositing?

      We would like to spend the first week of November 2007 there. Is is necessary to reserve/deposit that week with II? I could perhaps reserve week 44, so that if we could not trade it we would not mind using that week in Orlando.

        Week 44 is a very LOW demand week in Orlando.....so to maximize your chance of getting a Hawaii trade in November, you would really need a better week to deposit with II.
        The good news is that November is also not high season in Hawaii.....

        What you are describing is a "Request First" with II....you reserve a week at your home resort, contact II and request a week BEFORE your use week to trade into.
        If II doesn't get your exchange for you, you would still have use of your week at your home resort.

        Could you please tell me what weeks a "sport week" owner can reserve?
        That would help me suggest to you what would be the best one for you to request at your home resort.

          Hi Grayfal,

          For 2007, the sportsweeks are week 18 - 23 which cover April 30 to June 17,
          and week 34 - 50 which cover Aug 23 to Dec. 23. This is for Marriott Cypress Harbour.

            I actually think the best week would be week 23...June 17th, next best Thanksgiving with a Saturday, Sunday check-in...
            Reserving the June week would allow you to get your request into II in June, well ahead of the 'crowd' and ahead of people who deposit 13 months out....

                Yes, week 23 is the week with highest demand followed by Thanksgiving week in your sports season....

                SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO......
                1. On the Wednesday before the Thursday your week would start in 2007 (Note: Cypress Harbor has a Thursday check-in so owners there can call on Wednesday instead of Thursday) Call Marriott Owner Services and reserve the Saturday check-in of week 23, 2007
                2. Deposit your week with II.
                3. Place your request for several Hawaii Resorts for the check-in date that you want.....
                4. Wait patiently for your exchange....
