  • Marriott split weeks

Marrriott Beach Resort Marbella just announced that a week can now be split Fri/Sun and Mon/Thurs.
Is this common at other resorts ?

Within Marriott, yes, but I am not sure how often it is used. In high demand areas it will be difficult to use the 2nd half of the split at a later date unless going in off season.

    Perhaps others have more insight?

I know that Marriott Fairway Villas & Newport Coast can also be split....I also think that the Florida resorts offer split weeks to the "Florida Club."

Seems Marriott is getting a little more flexible with split weeks, and that can only be a good thing!

I think is it common at many of the resorts but the reality of using it is not so easy - and if it is at a "fly to" location - certainly not popular

I did use it when I owner at Fairway Villas - we stayed Fri-Mon for MLK, Jr weekend in January and then a Monday-Friday stay the first week in April....but to be honest, that time of year u can stay using a getaway or accomodation cert thru II - your ownership is better used value wise by depositing it with II and exchanging into a better time of year.

At Marriott Fairway Villas, (during gold season) Newport Coast, and I believe Boston....You can use single nights, if you'd like. It's difficult to get during platinum season, tho, but you never know.....If you can get it, I could see how this would be a nice perk for Boston, especially.

I think drive-to resorts like NCV benefit the most with these split weeks, more so than those that require flight travel. I wonder how many people will actually use the Marbella split week.?.?

I wouldn't mind staying a few days at Marbella.....Lots to see in Spain, and staying a few days, and then moving on works for me.

I agree tho, drive to locations would most likely be more in demand.

                Pat,

It appears you were a Fairway Villas Owner.... Anyway, I'm thinking about purchasing a MFV resale, platinum, deeded, floater for around $6k + closing. Before I make a decision, I'm trying to do a little DD on this property. We will probably use it eavery other year and exchange the other years. Any advice is certainly appreciated...

                Tks.

I used to own there - several on the board still do.

                  Is the asking price 6K?
If so, I wpould offer 5K plus closing

MFV is a wonderful resport tpo stay at and trades well if u reserve weeks 25 to 34. Let us know how u make out.

Thanks for the quick reply... Asking price was $8k... I offered $6k and thought that was a good deal. I haven't signed any contracts yet...still pondering.

Hi - I own at MFV. $6K seems to be the going price as a friend recently purchased for that price.

I'm in the market for another week so I've been trolling ebay and did see a few Platinums go in the $3600 range during the depth of the economic crisis, but I was leary of purchasing from an unreputable Seller so I didn't bid.

MFV has no ROFR (not that Marriott is exercising it anyway), which is good to know if the Seller tries to get you to go higher.

Let me know if I can help you with anything else.
