Marriott's Village d'lle de France -Who has been?

Hello! This morning we matched for the Marriott outside of Paris for mid-March next year (Spring Break). I moved quickly and we are now flying out mid-week and are booked at the Marriott Hotel Champs-Elysees for 3 nights before moving out to the country for our week. The flights and hotel in Paris are all on points, yippee! I'm planning on setting up a "Madeline's Tour of Paris" for our little girl who will be 7 by then and who loves the Madeline stories (they all feature drawings of Paris' major sights).

I am interested in hearing from anyone who has been to the Village d'lle de France. We have no interest in going to the Disneyland Paris resort nearby (just spent a week with the Mouse in March and need a break from mousedom). Once we move out to the resort, we do not plan on focusing on Paris, but the countryside. I would love any tips on things to do in the area, travel suggestions, food finds, etc.

Wow, good for you - and smart move booking the Marriott Hotel on points!
I sent my son and 6 college friends to the resort 5 years ago...and they spent a lot of time traveling back and forth between the resort and Paris.

I can not tell u what to do in the area - but do think u should spend one day in the Paris Disneyland - just to say u did it!

You have plenty of time to plan - what an exciting trip!

Pat, good to know they were able to travel to and from Paris to the resort. Yes, we are planning on 1 day at Disneyland for exactly that reason "so we can say we did" and buy the t-shirt. Also, I think Charlotte will need a kid-day....

HLIW, we recently stayed 3 nights at the Marriott during New Year's week. We went to Disney on New Year's eve and the kids rode all of their favorite rides. We tried to leave around 11:30pm to avoid the mad rush out after the fireworks, but were literally frozen in place with the crowd near the exit and could not move until after the fireworks.

With respect to the resort, it was very nice. We had a two bedroom unit with the kitchen and family room on the first level and the bedrooms on the second level. The bedrooms were particularly nice. We didn't do any of the activities at the resort. There is a mall nearby with a food court, with lots of restaurants. We ate there one night and tried to eat there a second, but it was closed on New Year's day. We didn't make any trips in the countryside other than Versailles (and Paris for 4 nights). d'lle de France 2006

MVCI members for 20 years.

We have been to this resort during the Fall of 2006. Great little resort.
We loved the rooms and facilities. It was cold for us in November but we had no plans for swimming etc. We skipped Euro Disney...yuck.

While we had a car for the week we used Rail Pass for trips to Paris. The train station is very close to the Marriott (by car).

Easier to get on train after rush hour, we slept in. Saw sights during day till our feet hurt, money ran out or we got tired of paying for snacks/drinks.

Shopping mall is one train stop away and easy drive. Town is small the shops close early so stock up at lone Grocery store early!

We relaxed, had no agenda and just enjoyed all the museums, art and sights.
This time of year nothing was crowded and resort was deserted. Weather was clear and cold one day of drizzle we did the Louve...haha.

Did airfare and rental car with points, room with exchange...so cost was just meals and admissions. Plan ahead, shop around and enjoy!
