  • Do green Marriott weeks really trade as red?

Timeshare resale people have told me that off season fixed Marriott weeks trade just like red weeks for other Marriott resorts. Does anyone have any experience making that kind of trade? Thanks for any advise or answers.

Assuming it's advice or answers, trading Marriotts through Interval International, the Green Marriott will snag a trade in the 'Marriott preference' period for a deposit before any great week that is not Marriott. The Marriott preference period is a few weeks to a few days depending on when the deposit is made compared to it's start date. That being said, any higher Marriott week will get the trade before you.
... not enough time for all the timeshares ®

Interval uses a travel demand index and no longer uses a red, yellow and green designation.
That being said the lower demand Marriott will pull any available Marriott immediately that is still being held for Marriott owners only.
Using flexchange in 60 days or less a lesser demand week should pull anything available.
If the week is relinquished to Interval at least one year or more (up to two years will maximize trading value) before check in it still will have superior trading power to something deposited just a few months before check in.

Red/Green/Bronze/Platinum aside, if you're willing to travel within a 60 day window and can actively look at changing inventory without relying on an ongoing search, then you should do alright. It takes time and effort.

If you want to trade into high season Marriotts with advance planning, there will be plenty of stronger Marriotts in line ahead of you.

Unfortunately, I have personal experience that this is not true. I have been a Marriott owner for 8+years of Platinum and Gold weeks. My Gold week has some RED (old II designation) time and even with a 2BR, I could not get studios/1BRs at high demand Marriotts in top time.

There is definitely an order to how Marriott to Marriott trades are confirmed, but it has been reported here and on the TUG Marriott board Timeshare Users Group that the low season weeks will not routinely get high season MAR weeks outside of the 60 day flex-change period. And that after the 21-24 day marriott preference period is over, the weeks go to non-Marriott owners with high demand, high quality resorts.

            Yup.....

And with the way the economy is, why not buy a high season resale week....it will trade MUCH better and the MFs are the same for all units/seasons.

The key word there is available!
I didn't say anything about on going searches.
If it is available you can exchange for it with a lesser demand week.
I own a number of Marriott weeks and typically use the studio side of my lockout first and have always accessed the available weeks using lesser demand weeks.

I have not read the link provided by GrayFal, but completely agree with both the above statements.

In addition, even when it comes to grabbing weeks online, outside of the 59 day window, all Marriott's are not created equal, and will not see the same availability.

I have personally done many searches minutes apart where a 1 bdrm bronze Marriott unit has not seen the same availability as a platinum 1 bdrm Marriott unit.

If you want a week specifically to use during flexchange, a lesser unit will do just fine. Other than using the week for flexchange exchanges, it will not trade the same, or even close to a platinum week. IMO

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.
