Well perhaps if you had a playpen in the unit that you couldn't get anyone to remove, and the dishwasher got the dishes dirtier, the VCR didn't work and maintenance never came or returned your calls among other things, you wouldn't get started on the right foot. Fortunately I got a sales call towards the middle of the week, and my problems were resolved shortly thereafter. Perhaps I should have called sales sooner.

Spent 2 weeks there last year inc July 4th. Found the atmosphere strange . We were in the older block adjoing the shop/reception area but just did not settle well. We do not play golf but enjoyed cycling. The absence of a bar and dont get me wrong meant there was no "heart to the place".Williamsburg on July 4th was just fantastic
. The accommodation looked dated . Way below the standards of the 3 Spanish locations Of the 6 Marriott locations we visited so far ...this for us was the most disappointing (maybe our expectations were too high ..for example we had to go "down town " to another Marriott to use the internet, A/C was noisy, pool closed early/more pressure than usual to attend sales presentations)

Re the location of the resort.
The resort is located in Ford Colony, which is a beautiful planned community a few minutes outside of williamsburg. You'll need a car, since you will want to visit williamsburg, Busch gardens, water country, Jamestown and Yorktown. But it's close to stores and restaurants (we spent 25 minutes trying to find a store when we stayed at KingsCreek, found one 10 miles away). You'd need a car at any resort you stay at in Willaimsburg.

Good Luck and enjoy your visit.

I would just start shooting people offers at a price that you want to pay.

                    Here is one on e-bay:

I hope it is OK to post a link. If not please deleate it. It is not my listing, nor do I know the person who's listing it is.

Among places to visit, some friends have recommended the Luray Caves. How far is this place from the resort?

                        Luray Caverns in Shenandoah Valley

I went from the SValley (Harrisonburg, VA) to Williamsburg and it was at least an hour and a half if not more. I wouldn't drive it to go unless you are a buff or have never been in a preserved cave. If the latter, you could probably find something closer.
