  • Exchanging and Nightly Stays

This has probably been answered before but I can't seem to locate the posts. I am NOT a MVC club owner but I'm a big Marriott points person. If I exchange into a Marriott resort do the seven nights count as "nightly stays" towards a new elite tier?

    Thanks in advance.

    Sadly, no

Only nights booked and paid for through Marriott and no one else are counted, at least that's my understanding. So if you book and pay for a room through Expedia or elsewhere, it doesn't count. Of course I found this out after I did a week at a Marriott in Ft Lauderdale, which would've bumped me to the next tier.

Marriott has some other restrictions too on what nights count towards "qualifying status" to the next tier. Until recently even timeshare stays booked by people (like me) using timeshares we owned did not count. As explained to me by a Marriott salesman, they are two different companies entirely and there's no synergy between them.

    Hope this helped!

The answer is yes, as long as the name on your II reservation matches your MR account exactly....mine never seem to but they allow u to add your name and reward number to the resie when u check in.
