  • Didn't get my points problem. Help.

I went on a "tour" of Custom house back in June 14th and the salesperson Tim Hamilton promised me 20,000 points for attending the presentation. They said it would take 6 weeks to see it in my account. I've been emailing them back and forth and nothing yet. I'm tired to dealing with him. Does anyone have an email to someone higher up in Marriott Vacation Club that I can email so they will make good on his promise?

    Thanks.

Here is the email from him:

They should of posted by now.

    Tim,
I still have not been credited my 20,000 points for the preview. Is there a problem? I just stayed at the Greensboro Marriott on Aug. 6th thru the 8th and I have already received my points for that stay, so I'm not sure why I have not received these points yet.
    My Rewards # is ------------
Are the hotels more organized than the timeshares with awarding points?
Please see what you can do to resolve this so I don't have to keep going up channels.
    Thanks.

I wish I was going to food and wine - I really enjoy this time of year at WDW - as well as MNSSHP

Anyway, log into your Marriott Reward Account and call and email their customer service - copy and paste your communication from the Boston Guy to them as well.

I agree that it certainly should have posted already - usually I see my points within a week of a stay - these points come from a different 'pot' but still - 2 months is toooo long. I have never taken points for a tour so do not have a time frame for that.

Can't wait til food & Wine. I love Disney in the Fall/Winter.

Thanks Pat, I logged in and sent in a missing stay request. Let's see if they respond. I guess I should call too. Will do when I get off work.

I want my promised points. Afterall I gave them 2 hours of my precious vacation time. It's only fair. Right?

Hitting a brick wall with Marriott.

Honestly I'm shocked at how they are not keeping their word on giving me my 20,000 points. I'm having to email the entire company and no one will do anything. They keep sending me back to the sales agent at Custom House and he claims he is just too busy to do this.

Can you believe this? I'm so shocked that MVC is run like this.

Anyone have Bill Marriotts email address?

The sales agent sent me this:

Christine I'm sorry for the hassle but I did summit your name in June. I am all by myself in Boston and I do not have anyone helping me here.I am trying to see if I can get you some extra points for the hassle. Again I apologize but my sales office is very small compared to some of the mammoth operations Marriott has. If you do print this on a timeshare blog please keep in mind I have a family and I am the only means of income and anything you write can afffect that.

        Thank you,

        And again I apologize

        Tim

        Marriott sent me this:
        Dear Christine Karas:

Thank you for contacting Marriott Vacation Club International.

Unfortunately, we cannot post any points without the voucher. If you say you did not receive one then you will need to follow up with the resort and the Sales Executive whom you toured with. Once you have the voucher please send it in for credit.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us via the e-mail address listed below or via our website at www.My-VacationClub.com.

They don't want to give me my points without something that the sales agent was supposed to give me which he didn't give me.
I'm very frustrated with them over this. Honestly this is just not fair.
What else should I do? Should I write to JW?
Obviously he is hiding his email address from the world.

Well I just wanted you to all to know that guest relations will not help you until 90 days if you happen to have a problem getting your points as I did.
Finally in the end after replying to all in every email and actually telling the MVC office to speak to Tim directly and call him and straighten this out they finally gave me my points for the tour. Made it sound like it was already done when in fact it was almost 90 days since I went on the tour.
I hated to get so sarcastic with them but honestly after being patient I didn't have a choice but to get cocky. I tried the nice route which got me nowhere. Just wanted everyone to know they finally gave me my points in case you have the same problem.

          Dear Christine K:

Greetings from Marriott Vacation Club International.

Our records reflect that your 20,000 tour points posted to your Marriott Rewards account on September 4, 2009, per Tim Hamilton. Your total balance is now 52,638. Please know that tour posting is very different than hotel posting for Marriott Rewards points, and requires more time.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding while we worked to resolve this issue for you. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us via the e-mail address listed below or via the My-VacationClub website.

          Kind regards,

          Rosemarie,
As you can see from this email string, Tim is just way too busy to get this done on his own. Unfortunately your company has cut the staff so thin that he is unable to keep his word because he is just too swamped with work to follow up on this. Please contact him and please try to clear this up for me as I think that, that is the least that I deserve.
I'm not asking for anything unreasonable but only for what was promised to me.
I'm extremely shocked in the way that Marriott is handling this simple to clear up issue.
I expect this from Westgate or Wyndham but never thought this would be an issue with MVC.
I have been told by Guest Relations that they will not intervene until 90 days has passed which will be Sept. 13th. I really don't want to keep bothering the staff and escalating when all you have to do is speak with Tim and clear this up. Please pick up the phone and call Tim Hamilton and try to clear this up for me. Please find his phone number below and the end of this thread.. Thanks.
          Christine

I stopped going on Marriott tours after encountering this more than once. They kept pestering me the second time and I only agreed to do the tour if the points were transferred on the spot, and they agreed to do it, but then didn't!! Very frustrating. No more points tours for me. I think some sales people do it on purpose if you don't buy. Seems pretty common, and also discourages future "wastes of time..."

Honestly I felt the same way since I didn't buy then. Now I know not to go on any more tours and will warn others I meet too about this since this is really a hassle and a waste of my vacation time. I've never had this problem with other chains even including Westgate and Wyndham. THey always give you what they promise on the spot.
Marriott could and should do better.
I was really disappointed in the way they handled this and I've been a loyal Marriott rewards member for over 20 years and always stay at Marriott hotels whenever I don't timeshare.
Now I think I'll start to look at Hiltons instead. Isn't this a shame?

Also wanted everyone to know that they never gave me any extra points for my trouble. Although they offered they never followed thru.

It is good to know that it can take 90 days for tour points to post.

What is not good is that you were told otherwise.

What is very good is that once you complained past the salesperson, you received you points in a few days (this thread was started a week ago).

I have always taken the cash/vouchers of $150-200 when I have done the Marriott tour and they are issued once you agree to take the tour, even before I have attended. Getting your promised compensation is not based on whether you buy or not.

If you think Marriott is such a bad company and you will warn others away from taking the tours, then you should also cancel your 2 week stay at the Marbella resort and stop looking for a Marriott resale, right ???? I have stayed at DVC and had problems but once I brought them to a 'higher ups' attention, it was taken care of - I wouldn't warn others away from dealing with DVC because of this.

As far as taking tours and wasting your vacation time - that is a personal decision that each person must make.

                    Pat,
Honestly I loved Marriotts and have been very brand loyal for years. I think it warrants other knowing that they will really work for those "promised points" as they do not give them so easily as they say in the "wine and cheese" mixer aka salesmans opportunity time.
I don't mind taking my time to learn about different timeshare companies and if they promise something I expect them to deliver.
I find that it is a fun part of my vacation if I get something in return but Tim could have and should have handled this more professionally in my opinion.
I feel that if I had not been on top of this that I would have not received my points which has happened to me earlier this year with a points promotion that was supposed to be extra points during a certain period of time and I had 10,000 dollars that should have been credited extra points which I NEVER received because it was thru the Marriott credit card and I didn't get that resolved. This is my second frustrating attempt at getting my points again with another "promotion". But lesson learned. I has soured me on the "extra" points promotions as they just don't always deliver and they will tell you that it takes months to see your points. Well I have yet to see my points and they were supposed to post in May. I finally gave up which is I am sure what they want. Some things are just not worth the aggravation.
I was not offered cash as an incentive and if it had been offered I would have opted for that instead.
I feel a little differently towards Marriott now and no longer want to own a Marriott for now.
I am still going to go to Spain and staying at the Marriott as planned but I will not do the tour unless they give cash.
I got my rental from II anyways. So if all goes well then probably all is forgiven.
But lesson learned, get the award up front or don't waste my time. Tim knows better.

By the way I know DVC is not perfect either but I got my VISA card from DVC the day I took the tour. No hassles there.
