I'm semi-familiar with DRI, enough to know that coverage in Mexico and large sections of Europe is a bit week (at least for a family of five).

So, I'm thinking to balance out my portfolio, instead of loading up with more and more DRI points maybe RHC would be a better choice.

    1. How many points would be needed to get a week or ten days at a nice place in Mexico or Europe for 5 people? "Niceness" being a high 3 or a low 4 on a 1 to 5 scale.

    2. Why do 20 or 30k chunks of RHC points sometimes go unsold for $1 on eBay? Is it due to the 2027 or 2031 expiration date? What's the catch?

    3. How do you interact with RHC? Do you call them up months ahead of time? Do they have a web-based reservation mechanism where you can see available inventory? How does it work?

    Thanks very much!

RHC is on the front page of the new issue of TST headlined by "Ongoing Complaints About Royal Holiday Club". I think our own Spence has involvement of late with them, and he may have a brighter picture than TST.

Diamond Resorts International had a resort coming in Mexico, Missiones in Cabo; but that deal fell apart. Supposedly the resort was not up to standards and could not be made so. In the meantime DRI has entered an agreement with Raintree resorts that gives a miniscule amount of availability at relatively high points costs.

Royal Holiday Club has lots of affiliated resorts to go to neat places but availability is generally small at all but their Mexico resorts and Puerto Rico and the Bahamas. They have a fairly easy online system but you need to plan early.

There's nothing new in that TST article. Many, many organizations are guilty of some of the same offenses. It certainly is not front page news. Many organizations discount their price for a 'trade-in' and never take the trade. WOW, you now have two timeshares and you got a discount, what a deal!

You need a good 30,000 points to get anywhere, the transfer costs of close to $1K between RHC and the Closing Company scare many away.

... not enough time for all the timeshares ®
