  • Best chance for multiple units?

I would like to try to use my Royal Holiday points to treat my family to a vacation next summer. I would need 4 units. I also have several weeks banked with RCI & can try to get one or two of the units that way. I thought that using my Royal Holiday points would be the easiest way to get that many units at the same place.

We all live in NY, so I would like something in driving distance. I was thinking about either Cape Cod or Block Island, but I'm open to suggestions. Can anyone recommend a nice resort that would likely have that many units available through RHC? One of the units would have to accomodate a family of 5. The rest of us are families of 4.

    Thanks,

Lake Placid Club Lodge or Brigantine Beach Club might be a good option for you. I've been in both and would return. Lots to do around both.

We'll see what the RHC specialists have to say about quantity of units available in your booking window and when they might become available.

Of those 2 LPCL would be an easier trade but I don't see any summer weeks in RCI for 2010 at the moment and doing a search in RCI ex-ops it looks like I haven't seen it since Dec 2008 for that timeframe.

Thanks for the suggestions. Did you go to Lake Placid in the Summer?

Yes. There is fishing in Mirror Lake just across the street from LPCL also rowboats and paddle boats, beach. Plenty or restaurants and shops on the opposite side. Maybe a half mile walk. The entire lake is about 2.5 miles around. Lots of hiking. Antiquing. Horseback riding. Skate on the rink used during the olympics. Bobsled down the course ( on wheels). Drive to the top of the mountain, take a boat tour on Lake Placid itself...

sounds like I just talked myself into a visit again soon.

Only draw back is there is no pool but the condos are large and spacious and there is the lake.

We have gone in late August for the most part. Pack a sweater.

It sounds like a lot of fun. We will have kids with us ranging from toddlers to late teens. The lack of pool could be a drag, but maybe they can swim in the lake. Do you think it is a fun place for kids? Or would you say Brigantine would be better for them?

I think for kids Lake Placid would be better. Brigantine is very nice but less for kids to do. Beach, pool and that's about it.

Yes they can swim in the lake. There are no motorized anything allowed on Mirror Lake the water is crystal clear and the beach for use is a very short walk across the road from LPCL. The kids won't need a license to fish and the tackle and bait rental is very reasonable. Mostly sunnies and perch but it's a lot of fun for them to catch and release from the shore.

I forgot they have the summer ski jumping that's a lot of fun to go to and ice skating shows. There are some top rated horse shows there as well. Here's a link that has the calendar of events: http://lakeplacid.com/flash/whattodo...rch_events.htm

We usually stop for a day at the races in Saratoga on the way home.

Thank you. Those sound like good suggestions. I'll definitely consider LPCL. The reviews are great too.
