We just booked a July 2010 week at the Hotel Napoleon. We are staying in a studio (45,000 points). The hotel's website indicates that there are different size studios. I assume that we will be in the smallest one.

Has anyone stayed there? Any information about your stay would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Beautiful hotel, well located, it was a hotel room - but by Paris standards, it was big.

      Hotel Napoleon

This is a wonderful place in a perfect location. The staff is very friendly and speaks good English. The RH room is small with a queen sized bed, but if you don't mind twin beds, these come in a larger room. (They can be pushed together to make a king.) When I stayed there last April, they showed us a junior suite which we could have (with twin beds) for an extra 100E which included breakfast. We did it and aren't sorry - the breakfast was wonderful and the extra room was great after being on the road and in hotel rooms for a couple of weeks. Again, this was April and I don't know how full the hotel was at that time.... I really don't think the breakfast was worth 26E but you should probably do it at least once for the experience. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

The hotel and room are small. But the location is amazing. A couple of blocks from the Arc de Triomphe. For 5 Euros a day, they will empty out the minibar fridge and you can use it to store your perishable food. They will also bring up a tray for free so you can make your own coffee or tea in the room. There is a small neighborhood nearby with a great Farmer's Market and a wonderful french deli.

Is there a shower in the room or down the hall?

Oh goodness, the bathroom is huge and beautiful, with a shower and large soaking tub. Ensuite.

I don't think I made my last post clear. In order to get the larger room with twin beds, you need to email ahead and request twin beds. I believe the twins only come in the larger room. Not that the small room is that small or that you will spend that much time in the room.

You can get a three day or one week metro pass - good for most travel around the city. It takes a different pass to get to Versailles. The metro stop is about a block away. Also, don't know if you will be on the road this long, but there is a self serve laundry a few blocks down the street (on a side street) and you can get the change for the machines and purchase soap from a machine there. There is lots of info on the area around the Napoleon on Tripadvisor.

              Hotel Napoleon

We just got back from France and had a great time in Bayeux (Hotel Churchill) and Paris (Hotel Napoleon).

The room at the Hotel Napoleon was a little small but we did not spend too much time in it. It was big enough for a queen size bed and a desk and not much else. There was plenty of closet space but there was no room for anything longer than a hanging shirt. The bathroom was fine and included a full bath tub. We did not try the breakfast (I think it was 18 euros per person for the continental breakfast and 26 euros for the full). There was usually a Wall Street Journal and a USA Today, as well as a few English and French newspapers, available for reading in the lobby.

The location was excellent, near the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs Elysees. We were able to walk to most of the attractions. The Museum Pass was a good value for us. The Tour de France ended on the Champs Elysees during our stay. The street was packed before, during and after the race.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

                Great review Sam....

I stayed at the other RHC Paris property -
Citadines Paris Bastille Gare de Lyon We found it very convenient, located 1/2 a block from the Reuilly - Diderot Metro stop for the #1 line - it took 7-8 minutes to get to the Louvre and 10-12 minutes to the Arc de Triomphe.

The hotel staff was very helpful for basically first time visitors - they advised us to buy the week long unlimited Metro Pass - 5 euro for the ID card (no expiration) and 17 euro for the refillable card. We also found the 4 day Museum Pass to be a good value. We stayed at the hotel for a week then a week in Nice - when we returned to Paris they allowed us to leave our luggage there for the day and booked us a shuttle to the airport. When the weather did not cooperate and we decided to take a taxi earlier to our airport hotel, they refunded our shuttle money. This is just one example of how helpful and accommodating the staff was.

We had a 1BR unit sleep 4 private. The small bedroom had two twin beds pushed together and two tiny side tables. LARGE double closet had shelves as well as hanging space. Nice size Living room was sparsely furnished but had a sofa bed, side tables and a table with 4 chairs. Another very large closet, The kitchenette had a small refrigerator, cook-top, microwave and the smallest dishwasher I have ever seen! The kitchen had every appliance/utensil you can think of - this place is obviously set up for extended stay. There was a split bath with toilet in one room and bath tub and sink in another. It should be noted that there was no air conditioning in the hotel - we were there June 5-12 and found it warm at times.

I did get to see a studio unit - had the same fully equipped kitchen and a nice sized main room. There was a sofa bed - I know someone who had a twin bedded room as well. While we were there, they were changing all the sofa beds in the studio units to queen size (160cm) beds and replacing the twin (90cm) beds, too. Now I would gladly book a studio at this property.

The lobby was nicely furnished with several seating areas, desks and a free computer for guests to use. There is free wireless internet service for guest AND free coffee 24 hours from a professional machine in the restaurant where a cold breakfast is served for 10 euro. There is a laundry for guest use on the premise.

Citadines has many Paris locations - we checked out the property right near the Louvre - while it is a wonderful location, we really enjoyed coming home to our more residential "neighborhood" with all the local shops and restaurants.
I would not hesitate to recommend this property and to stay there again.
I will post some pictures in a few days.

Yes, and they're all in II as getaways. They're expensive, tho.

How did you get your unit?

Just went to take a look in II....At the moment, this is all that's available, but I'm pretty sure that I've seen most, if not all of them, at one time or another. Royal Holiday has many more available, and seems to be a better deal.

I will be staying in a one bedroom at RHC Citadines in December. Did you use taxis or shuttles for airport or did you take the train at all? Also, any recommendations for restaurants in the area? And did you purchase the metro pass or museum pass online ahead of time or wait until you got to Paris?

                        Thanks much!

Gare de Leon train station is about 5 blocks away, We walked with our rolling luggage From there, when we first got into paris airport we took the bus from the airport and got off the Gare De Leon stop and walked straight to the resort but we did have to make a right on the block since the resort was just off the corner. There were about 5 or 6 restaurants right by the resort.

I was not aware of the bus option - it cost 54 euro in Monday morning rush hour traffic to get to the resort.
It cost 36euro to get FROM the resort to the airport on Sunday around 3:30 pm.
The resort offers an airport shuttle service from an outside company for 16-18 euro per person.

I would definitely do the bus or train option the next time. the train runs right INTO the airport terminal....I just did not do my homework.

Directly ACROSS the street/to the right - from the resort are two small cafes - we ate in both and highly recommend them. They cafes all seem to have a price fix - that includes appetizer/entree/dessert and can range from 18-25 euro....and even less in some other areas. We found them a very good value with great variety and selections.

The resort staff will direct you to where u can buy your metro pass....you leave the resort turning right, walk to the corner, make another right and the 'cigar store' will be a few stores down from the corner. You need a photo to put on the pass - it is good for life! - and the resort will copy your drivers license for you. It also comes with a refillable plastic card and fits nicely in a small case.

Do not buy the museum pass ahead of time as they charge u 13 euro to mail it! The tourist office is right in the Gard de Lyon station which is an easy walk from the resort.
                            Got to run, more later!

                              What time to visit?

My daughter and I will be visiting Paris in 2012. We were originally planning to go in March because it would be her 18th birthday that month (celebrating birthday and graduation) but what time of the year would you all suggest we go?

Also, how far in advance should we book our stay with RHC?

I will have 60K points to work with so any help would be greatly appreciated, as I have not used my membership yet and this will be our first reservation.

                              Thanks in advance,
