With the 2008 summer Olympics getting underway this month, many will start thinking about their plans for the February 12-28, 2010 Winter Olympic Games and March 12-21, 2010 Paralympic Games to be held in Canada's Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia. VI members have a special opportunity to visit either venue. You can stay at the Clocktower in the village at Whistler or stay at Terrell Creek in Birch Bay and make the short drive to Vancouver.

Upon approval of the VIOA Board of Directors, VI has established a policy to regulate the use of our two VI resorts during the 2010 Olympics and Paralympics. The goal is to allow the most number of VI Owners to use the resorts during this once in a lifetime event. To facilitate this goal, VI will hold a lottery. Owners who enter the lottery will be allowed to make the first reservations. Entry into the lottery will be held from October 1 through December 31, 2008. In January 2009, Owners who entered the lottery will be randomly drawn and notified via letter of dates to call in to make reservations either at Clocktower or Terrell Creek.

• Important Things to Know:
• All reservations will be for 3 nights/4 days. Check-in dates are pre-determined to allow for flexibility and are non-changeable.
• Only one lottery entry and, if selected, one reservation per Ownership. (Primary account Owners must submit entry for Co-Owners.)
• Only VI Owners will be authorized to reserve and occupy that unit with any guest each day.
• Identification must be shown at the time of arrival or check-in will be denied.
• If an Owner decides to cancel, the space will return to general availability for any Owner to book. However, the same rules will apply.

2010 Olympics and Paralympics Lottery
Please read the following Terms & Conditions before submitting your entry.

• VI owners are able to sign up between October 1 and December 31, 2008.
• This lottery applies to the Clock Tower, Whistler, BC.
  (Due to the lack of proximity to Olympic events in Vancouver, BC, Terrell Creek at Birch Bay, WA, has been removed from the Olympic lottery.)
• This lottery is for the opportunity for reservations only, and does not include or imply the availability of tickets to any Olympics events.
• Only one lottery entry per primary owner # and, if selected, one reservation per primary owner. Co-owners will need their primary owner to enter on their behalf.
• Owners will need to have enough points in their account. No rental nights will be allowed.
• Reservations are pre-booked 4 night stays. No changes to the check-in and check-out dates will be allowed.
• During the second week of January 2009, VI will draw from the names submitted and letters will be sent to the Winners giving them a time and date to call to select the date of their choice. A specific 1.800 phone number will be set up to take only these calls.
• Only one unit per owner.
• All owners will be required to show identification at the time of check-in.
• Owners must occupy the unit for the entire stay.
• NO rentals or exchanges will be allowed.

Wait list: Those owners that are not chosen in the lottery can request to be added to the wait list 12 months prior to the Olympics. $25.00 wait list fee will apply.
Cancellations: Once the lottery is complete and the wait list cleared, should there be any space available the units will go to general availability on a first-come, first-served basis, however the same check-in rules will apply.

I guess I lost the lottery

Winners of the Olympic and Paralympic lottery have been selected and notified from the 2581 entries received.
Reminders:

• Members who were not chosen in the lottery and checked the box requesting 'addition to the wait-list' agreeing to the $25.00 waitlist fee have been added and will receive a statement for the charge. You will be notified if space becomes available.
• If you did not enter the lottery or request to be waitlisted, you can still add your request to the waitlist twelve months prior to your desired 2010 reservation start date, with the $25.00 charge applicable.
• During the 2010 Winter Olympics in Whistler, BC, all reservations at Clocktower are pre-booked in 3-night/4-day stays to give the maximum number of Members the opportunity to enjoy the events.

Terms:
All reservations at Clocktower will follow rules and guidelines set up for the 2010 Olympic/Paralympic reservations during the specified time periods of February 11 - 28, 2010 and March 11 - 22, 2010.
