Vacation Internationale's Silver Prestige of questionable Value

    VI Silver Prestige

Currently have 364 accumulated VI points, which equates to 152,880 RCI points. 1VI=420RCI

Previously I received 91 VI points per year permanent. (paid in full)

9/11/2010 added an additional 23 points per year with the Silver Prestige

114 VI points equal 47,880 RCI points

Our problem with using VI points in the past was two-fold. First there usually weren’t enough VI accommodations when and where we wanted to go, and secondly, if we could get VI accommodations, we couldn’t afford to go due to the cost of airfare, rental car and other incidentals. The sales person, at the Oasis in Palm Springs, assured us that the Silver Prestige program would solve all this, because with this program, we would become RCI point members, thus opening up many more options for accommodations all over the world, and that the converted VI points could be used for airfare, car rentals and most other needs, almost like money. This is the only reason we agreed to the modifications of our original agreement numbers: XXX999, XXX999 and XXX999 to the new agreement number WSC999. We were strongly lead to believe that finally we could get good use and good value from this added VI program.

When I finally received confirmation that we were now RCI points members, which occurred on 11/8/2010, I contacted RCI through the number presented on the VI website connector for RCI and was told by the RCI representative that I could only use 25,000 points per year and that I could not split it across multiple items. And to make matters even worse, the 25,000 points was equivalent to approximately $250. This means that I can only get about a $250 discount on either airfare or accommodations. That is not enough to help with anything. Since the RCI membership will cost me $124 per year and I can only use about $250 per year that really comes down to about $126 in benefit.

We were completely mislead by the sales representative regarding the benefits of the RCI points. Look at this program very carefully before you sign to see if it really benefits you. Personally, I think it is a rip off.

      Hi Gellison,
I appreciate your detailed explanation. We had considered the Platinum Prestige program partly to use the VI points in RCI Points but it looks like it is not a good idea.

      Thanks
