  • VRIety Plus

I received a call yesterday trying to sell me a membership in VRIety Plus exchange network for my Tanglewood Poconos week. I was curious so I listened to the whole sales pitch about the "freebies" I would receive -unit upgrades and free guest certificates, etc.

The cost was above my tolerance level - $2498 for "lifetime" with variations on membership to the lowest level of a three year membership at $299.

I was offered this same thing a few months ago. In fact VRI called me on the phone about it as I own a VRI managed resort.

This is a 3rd party product being pushed by others as well. It is called Platinum Rewards with SFX and I am sure it has several other names depending on who is selling it.

It is grossly over priced and offers very little more to justify the outrageous price.

Did they call you and say "we are just calling everyone to be more proactive, and to let you know about benefits that you may not know you have as an owner?"
Life is short, live it with this awareness.

They simply presented it and I told them we weren't interested. Then we discusssed some other stuff andI told him that I exchange through SFX. He was cool with that. There was no pressure at all.

Maria - what John said - plus you can already exchange thru VRI-ety as an owner.
Not really anything knew - just another vacation 'club'.

The big deal with it are the cruise benefits. We have no interest in cruises so that is of no value. Even if you are interested in cruises, you can probably do better on your own and not have to give up a timeshare week.

Wow, that's expensive. I'm on hold trying to set up my VRIety exchange account but the benefits of the "Plus" account don't look very enticing to me, even at a lower price point.

They called me the other day. The price was $249 annually. The big selling point was a "request first" system. The rep didn't want to believe me when I told him I.I. has that at a fraction of the price. He said it was a truly innovative feature.

That guy needs to educate himself. "Request first" has been around for a long time.
