    Saw this on streettalkblog.com

VRI is going to be buying ORE.
    VRI TO PURCHASE ORE
Filed under: WEST COAST — street @ 2:58 pm
    Week of May 12- 18

    HOT OFF THE PRESSES

According to ORE sources, the big news, and it is big news, is that VRI has agreed with the ORE Board to purchase ORE. ORE-MROP would remain part of the company, along with all ORE-managed timeshare associations.

VRI is getting BIGGER. Stay tuned for more…
    Sorry no more info yet.

      nice

I hope they all link up under the VRI membership. I recall seeing VI working with VRI but the resorts were never integrated. That would greatly expand the resort in-house preferences for me!

Thanks for the head's up Bill!

That is big news. ORE has their own internal exchange system. I wonder if VRI will allow owners to use the ORE exchange system. Very interesting. I own 4 MROP weeks and will be very curious to see how this all pans out.

VRI formerly operated their own internal exchange program. They outsourced it to RCI - that deal included the package gving VRI owners reduced membership fees, reduced fees for internal VRI trades, and internal trading perferences.

Do you know if owners at VRI resorts were upset or pleased when VRI made the change? I think ORE owners might be upset if this happens because there is no yearly fee with ORE and the exchange fee is only $74. (Of course, many ORE owners are probably already RCI owners, so the yearly fee would not be as big an issue.)

Edye, since you already have an RCI account.. you wont have to pay any other fee or seperate account.

I'm very happy with VRI.. also, you will be able to renew your existing RCI at the VRI rate.. its 3 years for the price of 2

                Ore

May I ask what ORE stands for? Newbies may read these posts too and wouldn't know either. I looked under the "Abbreviations' list" but didn't found it there either. Personally, I would type out the full name once and then start using abbreviations. That would be very helpful.

                TIA

I don't know. It happened before we owned at VRI.

There were one or two resorts that were not affiliated with RCI whose owners got orphaned out of internal exchanging when the change was made.

                    ORE = Owner's Resort Exchange

MROP = Multi Resort Ownership Plan

ORE is a group that manages many units at different timeshares.
MROP is a group of timeshares that created an internal reservation/exchange system by owners who were unhappy with their resorts. You can learn about ORE here: http://www.ore-inc.com/

                      Question

Isn't ORA formed by several HOA that owned by owner? So by agree to be purchased by VRI, what does it means? Who get the finacial benefits?

I was going to talk to the possibility of being an ORE resort with my other board members. If ORE is being taken over by VRI, that might ruin that option for us.

Who would benefit financially, the owners? I doubt it.

Thank you. I put it on the "Abbreviations' List", Edye.

Thanks for posting this! I own at ORE, but a rotating week at the same resort, not MROP. I deposit the week in RCI, so I would like to benefit from the VRI preference and the reduced fees.

Assuming ORE and MROp members will gain access to the VRI preference through RCI, without any consideration of other factors.

What exactly is VRI preference. I know I probably knew at one point and would guess it is a priority available only to VRI members for some period in reserving VRI resort deposits into RCI.
