  • VRI & ORE = new exchange

It is official that VRI plans to offer an internal exchange possibly later this year:

The ORE internal exchange program is extremely attractive, and we look forward to being able to integrate this program into many of the resorts that VRI is privileged to manage as a very cost effective, simple to use program for the owners, says Joseph Takacs, President of VRI.

This was so obvious that Stevie Wonder could see it coming.

Orange Lake, Marriott soon and now VRI.

It seems that Resort Group theory is moving forward as predicted.

        Explain ORE exchange system?

Could someone explain how ORE exchange system works and how VRI might use it?

Does this have anything to do with the assignment of weeks on a rotating system or this that something else.

Go to the URL I posted in my previous message and click on the URL.

On the left of the page click on Reservations.

Read the material in Annual Scheduling, ORE Exchange Info and Bonus Time.

VRI plans to use the software ORE developed for weeks exchanges among their managed resorts.

                Need clarification

If I were a VRI owner with a red 1 bedroom, what would likely happen in the ORE exchange system.

I would deposit up to one year before checkin?

Have until Dec. 31 of the following year to use the exchange?

                Could request 2 br?

Trading power is not used within a color code?

                Exchange fee $79?

                Please correct as needed.

Link to the rules as they stand

I suppose these might be altered when the rest of the VRI resorts come on line but here are the ORE Exchange Rules as they stand now.

I would hazzard a guess that what is red and what is white in RCI may not correspond to ORE values.

I would deposit up to one year before checkin? Or more.

Have until Dec. 31 of the following year to use the exchange? Yes

Could request 2 br? For a small fee if the resort standard is a smaller unit size.

Trading power is not used within a color code? Not exactly.

                    " ORE Color Value
ORE has a three-color value system. Each week is color-coded based on the demand. The color value on your Annual Scheduling form reflects the original color value you purchased and may not correspond with ORE or other exchange companies. The chart below shows how the colors relate to demand. Color Demand
                    Red High
                    White Medium
                    Blue Low

                    Annual Scheduling Priority
Each week is pre-assigned an Annual Scheduling priority number ranging from 1 to 5. Owners of multiple-week packages will receive a different priority for each week. The priority number rotates each year you participate in the Annual Scheduling process. If you mark the box bypass to the exchange on the Annual Scheduling form, this is considered participating and your priority number will rotate. If you choose not to participate in the Annual Scheduling Process, the priority number will not rotate. Early return of the Annual Scheduling form is appreciated, but will not change the pre-assigned priority position. The numbers rotate 1,5,2,3,4."

                    and

"IMPORTANT NOTE: The earlier a week is banked into the Exchange, the higher the request priority."

Exchange fee $79? Certainly $70 something.

                    Please correct as needed.

OK- I can not figure out how to reply using a different colour. Hopefully you can differentiate between the posts.

Seems like you read somethings and are concerned. It may not be implemented the ORE way who can say at this point, we have not been notified as TS owners yet.

I was under the impression this is only for MROP owners in ORE. Is this also the case for owners of non-MROP weeks in ORE?

The point about red/white/blue will be interesting. How will the merged company delineate red/white/and blue weeks?? It could be good or bad for current ORE owners, depending on how this is done...

                          Upgrade fee

My week is solidly red and solidly a 1 br.

Per the above post I also assumed the annual scheduling is MROP not for folks who own a fixed or float week at a VRI managed resort.

So if I get this right, If I deposited my week into ORE exchange and asked for a exchange where 1 br units were standard I could ask for a 2 br but would have to pay an upgrade fee. If 2 br were standard I would not pay and upgrade fee?

Sounds great, we own two VRI weeks. A fixed fall week at Foxrun and a Floating non-summer week at Landmark Holiday Vacation Resort. I wonder if this will do away with the reduced membership fee at RCI - 3 years for the price of 2?

I believe that even if you deposit a 2 bedroom, you have to still pay an upgrade fee (only $25) to get a unit that is larger than the smallest (standard) unit at a resort. There has to be a larger unit available in order to get the upgrade.
