    VRI*ety EXCHANGE RULES

    VRI*ety Exchange

The VRI*ety internal exchange program is available to owners/ members at participating VRI-managed resorts and Multi Resort Ownership Plan (MROP). An owner may exchange as many weeks as he/she owns each year. All exchanges are subject to availability and there is a non-refundable exchange fee for each fulfilled exchange. There is no assurance that any specific week, resort, unit size or unit number will be available.

    VRI*ety Deposits

To make an exchange within the VRI*ety program, an owner/ member must first have a fixed week or confirmed reservation at a VRI resort or club to deposit. Each week deposited will have a season of red (high demand),
white (medium) or blue (low). Deposited weeks expire two years after the start date of the reservation. The earliest a week can be deposited into the exchange system is two years in advance. The earlier a week is deposited before its start date, the higher the request priority. The latest a week can be deposited is 28 days in advance of the scheduled check-in date for Continental U.S. destinations and 49 days in advance for International and Hawaii resorts

    Long Term Requests

Requests may be made up to 24 months in advance. Owners may exchange for a lower season than the deposited week. Owners may exchange for a unit type equivalent to the deposited unit. Exchange confirmations made 60 days or less prior to the check-in date may be scheduled in any unit size, based on availability. Priority in the exchange is based on the deposit date . There is a non-refundable exchange fee for each request filled > A credit card is required at the time of request, but not charged
until the request is filled. A confirmation will be sent when a request is filled

    Short Notice Requests

Requests may be made 28 days in advance ot requested check-in date for Continental U.S. destinations and 49 days in advance for International and Hawaii. Requests may be made for any season: red, white or blue. Requests are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a non-refundable exchange fee for each request filled. A credit card is required at the time of request, but not charged until the request is filled. Owners will be contacted if the time requested becomes available

    Split Weeks
Owners may schedule a whole week or split their week into two increments at participating resorts — a three-night portion and four-night portion. If an owner's request is confirmed for a split week, there will be a cleaning fee and a non-refundable exchange fee.

I don't think my VRI resort is included in the program yet. Not sure I'd participate anyway since my RCI membership has expired so I'd have that fee added on. But I'm glad that they are doing something to allow owners to exchange within their relatively large organization. If I decided to rejoin RCI, I think it's a good benefit.

    Thanks for posting.

You do not need an RCI membership to participate in VRI*ety as this is an internal exchange system for VRI managed properties. The connection VRI*ety has with RCI is that VRI hired RCI to administer the VRI*ety exchange system.

I just got off the phone with VRI and now I'm mad at myself. I paid for the 2009 mf's and then called VRI requesting Nob Hill for 2010. I thought I was being smart. Oh no, you have to pay for 2010 to get 2010. My 2009 MROP week went to the new Coral Ridge in St George . I got that in 2008 so I assumed I could do the same again. NO!! You can chose a 2010 week if you choose a week from the MROP properties. But, for VRIety resorts you have to pay the 2010 fees and have MROP give you a week to give to them. $79 exchange fee. (Not bad) Plus, the mf's went up to $570. This is getting a little pricey for me. shaggy

Couldn't you have deposited your 2009 Coral ridge into VRIety and exchanged for a 2010 unit if available. Thought they were good to exchange for two years past the actual reservation date.

If you are planning on going to Coral Ridge in 2009 then that is another matter.

I am going to Coral Ridge in Sept 2009!! The difference being Coral Ridge is part of MROP (VRI managed) Nob Hill is not part of MROP but part of VRIety and the dues have to be paid for 2010 and have a room reserved to give them.

The list the rules here as well as the resorts and how many units plus check-in days. Still no on-line search that I know of. You have to call.

I also received a brochure from VRI listing all the rules and the fees in the mail last week. They had a list of all resorts you change exchange into over 140 resorts and new ones to be added throughout the year. The fees state less than $100.00 for an exchange.

My RCI membership expires in July and I do not plan on renewing.

I hadn't done much with my 2009 deposit thinking I would probably use it 2010 or even 2011 and it is far too early to think about.

From my checking a few areas today on a phone call as my very first exploring effort, I realised I don't want to be repeating the process. Reading the exchange rules, seems like a few long range searches are in order. I like to be able to see availability online and not being able to do so is a disadvantage.

Since the credit card is not charged until a match that seems the way to go for me.

Anyone know about the notification process, will I have time to refuse a match, can I do so even. A lot of things can change between placing a request and perhaps finding a match.

                      VRI Exchange - Knob Hill

                      .

Shaggy, I received a brochure too and was thinking of booking Knob Hill but the guy at VRI told me that the trading chances are very slim there as it is a very small resort (I think there's only like 25 units). I had a 2009 exchange available and wanted to go to San Francisco in Aug, Sept. or Oct. Ended up trading through RCI and got Donatello as it is twice the S.F. and supposedly very nice (from a local friend that lives there).

With that said, you may need to pay in advance and book 1 1/2 -2 yrs in advance to get into Knob Hill through VRI.

                        VRI On-line Exchange

Has anyone tried the on-line search engine:

                        VRI*ety Exchange Guide Online

I'm going to call to set-up my account and then I'll report back.

It seems to be identical to Trading Places search engine. In fact, the week I deposited with TPI is there, and my log-in is identical. It was migrated from the TPI site I think.

I'm a member of both TPI and VRI.

Last week i looked first at TPI
                            nothing much

                            a minute later VRI
tons of availability at the TPI resort they manage in Cabo
and also other resorts that TPI manage

                            How's that?
VRI members can't deposit non managed resorts, so my thinking ( I maybe wrong) is that TPI seeded in some of their managed resorts into VRI inventory
not very fair to TPI members

Maybe they got complaints because that TPI inventory isn't showing in VRI website now

also where was the letter informing VRI members of the new setup?
