WM upgrade to points?

Hi all,

I don't know much about Worldmark (I know more a bit more about Fairfield) but I understand that Dolphin's Cove is a Worldmark resort, is that right? Is there any process through WorldMark of changing a fixed week to points?

NO, Dolphin's cove isn't a WM resort but is a Fairfield resort. But it is a resort which has some WM inventory. Most all WM resorts are pure WM. The whole resort is owned and managed by WM. But there are a handful of WM resorts which WM owns a significant number of the units but other companies also own units in that resort. Dolphin's cove is one of these resorts.


NO. you can't change a fixed week to WM points.

That said, there are some resorts managed by point based TS companies which allow week owners to deed their week to the point based company and have their week converted to points. WorldMark doesn't allow that at the resorts which there are both WM inventory and non WM inventory.

BUT, WM owners can sometimes change their week TS to worldmark points. There is something called points for deposit. Where you trade a week at your week based TS for a single allotment of points. And there are some trendwest sold fractionals were you can trade your weeks for points.

Thanks, Bill. I knew that TW had fractionals, but didn't know that WM allowed points-for-deposit.

Anyone know if WM points-for-deposit is a good deal? Is there a fee, and what would, say, a 2 bedroom red week be worth in WM points? Are there quality restrictions, so that low quality resorts can't be deposited? And, can those points be used for WM units that are later rented out? (The reason I'm asking this last question is because I was reading that WM is restricting the used of points from other owners for units that are to be rented.)

It's called Exchange Plus. It cost $129 to deposit a week, there is a limit of 4 per year, and they deduct 2000 credits off the equivalent value. It's cheaper if you own a TW fractional. I think it's $35/week or something like that.

That clears up my confusion. Dolphin's Cove is a resort on both the Fairfield and Worldmark sites, and in RCI it is called Worldmark Dolphin's Cove. Anyway, just thought I'd check.
