  • Membership package?

About a month ago I bought a Worldmark membership and I already have the online account setup. Do you know if I'll be getting some kind of membership package or some other confirmation? I already got my maintenance fee bill but nothing else.

    Thanks.

If you purchased resale then I doubt you'll get a membership packet. Those are usually reserved for purchases through the developer. If you bought from the developer they usually give those out at the time of purchase.

I purchased resale but I was expecting to get something like a membership certificate at least confirming that I'm a member of the club.

Usually, when we purchase resale accounts, no paperwork confirming the membership is sent by the managing company. Feel free to call Owner Services at 1 866 648 7363 and ask for a package containing information about your WM ownership.

Thanks for the info. I though the $150 transfer fee would include sending documents to the new owner.

You'd like to think it would but that fee is just an over inflated processing fee to change the membership information in their system and any work they might have to do in changing the title on the contract. Some resorts charge much more.

In some ways it's funny. Part of the developers sales spiel is that you OWN this "property." You can use it, give it away, sell it rent it exchange it et..... But when it comes to selling it they really don't want you doing that. Resales are compitition to developer sales and actually hurt their cause. On top of that they don't make any money when someone buys a unit resale and that's a problem when they're still trying to sell out the resort at developer prices. So, many now charge an over inflated, owner unfriendly fee to handle the paper work to transfer your ownership.

There are many things I love about timesharing and it's our favorite way to travel. But, if you ever think the developer is going to get his hands out of your pockets you're mistaken. Some fee's and expenses I understand and can agree with. MF's are a necessary evil and are needed to keep the resorts I own at up to the standards when I purchased them. The problem comes in when the resort starts charging fee's far in excess of the cost required for that service.

So, you'd like to think your $150 would get you something in return but all it really gets you is for them to take care of the paperwork to transfer the ownership. At least you didn't buy into a resort that charges $300 to $500 for the same service.

I have purchased two resale accounts in the last couple of years. The first one-I did receive a transfer letter...long after I was already set up online and a destinations magazine which I continue to receive.

The second one was after the introduction of TravelShare...so I got this nice shiny folder with the Club Guidelines and TravelShare fees, a Credit Values booklet (which I suggest you ask for as it is much easier than going back and forth online to look at credit values) and membership cards.

What the difference is/was between the two-I have no idea-but I have always been treated just fine as a resale customer. Call up and ask for what you want and I bet they will send it no problem.

Thanks for the advise, I'll try calling them. So far, whenever I called member services I got very good service so I'm hopeful.

Membership package will be received 2 -3 months after the closing. I've just received the package last week. it's just a 58 pages "Daily Vacation credit Values", 8 pages"WorldMark Club Guideline and Travelshare fee" folder and a membership card. It's not a box of binder as 10 years before.
