  • Need advice on the reservation process

I have the opportunity to become a first-time Worldmark owner by purchasing an 8000 credit account which has a renewal date of February 1. It also has 8000 accumulated credits from last year.

My main concern is that once I am able to book reservations (probably sometime around the end of March) I will have great difficulty “spending” the 8000 credits that will expire next February due to an inability to get a reservation.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone would advise me of what chance I have of getting a reservation at one of the resorts in either California, Oregon or Washington before my credits evaporate next February. If that is a remote possibility, are there any other resorts that I might have a better chance of securing before the year ends?

I understand that it is possible to put my name on a “waiting list” for as many resorts as I desire and thereby get notified if a cancellation occurs that I could take advantage of. What are the chances of such cancellations? Do they occur infrequently or are the somewhat more common.

I guess what I really need to know is if I’m wasting money on the 8000 accumulated credits. Thank you in advance for any advice. It is greatly appreciated.

    Joey,

This will be a great stater package for you. Worldmark (WM) is very flexible. There are some destinations that are available this summer and lots next fall and winter.

Also, WM is a wonderful for II exchanges. You will have to join II separately. However, with 8,000 credits you can get 2 Flexchange exchanges (59 days or less to check in) for 4,000 credits each. Your whole TS world will be open to you.

There are various resources to learn how to use your credits including the WM website. You can go here to review the Owner Manual.

    Good luck!

      Mike -

Thank you so much for the advice. I had never thought of utilizing an exchange. I will look into that possibility.

        Hi JoeyD!

Cancellations on the waiting list do happen but I think your chances of getting something desirable are fabulous if you are flexible and patient out of the starting gate.

There are many WorldMark owners more than willing to help you understand the system and fear not I honestly don' t believe you will find any difficulty spending your 8000 - 16000 credits quickly!
