  • WorldMark Estes Park - In the middle of God's country

When I took my last cross country trip 2 years ago, we stopped in the Rocky Mountains for a few nights in WorldMark Estes Park. We loved it so much, we just had to come back. Well, we did it. Here we are. The first two words that come to mind are "God's Country." I'm not sure who coined that term, but it certainly describes the natural beauty of this place.

I just love Colorado. We arrived late last night from Las Vegas. An 800 mile trek that I don't recommend doing with children unless your kids can entertain themselves. That was a LOOONG trip, but well worth it. The drive through Utah and the Ski areas of Colorado was wonderful.

Like 2 year's ago, we got a 3br unit. We booked at exactly 13 months, so given how WorldMark priority works for unit assignment, I am right near the top. So, I got the river front unit. I got the deluxe unit so we are on the top floor which is way better than the 3 bedroom we had on the first floor.

The other difference is that this resort now has internet access. True to their word, WorldMark has broadband in the units via telkonet. I signed up for the annual plan for $49.95. What a great deal. Telkonet is an internet device that works throught the electrical outlet. We've got my vonage router set up and my Cisco wireless router as well. So, 3 computer up, my telephone, printer and my home office is complete. No fighting with the family for internet access. Woo hoo.

For now, it's sunny and a cook, crisp 52 degrees. I've got the fireplace working and the shades open with a window cracked for the fresh air and sound of the running river. Can't wait for the family to wake up. Breakfast on the balcony is definitely in order....

Ahhhh, a running river, and breakfast on the balcony, sounds wonderful. So peaceful.

    Enjoy!

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

If you think Colorado is God's Country, Wait until you get to Wyoming.

We love Colorado but Yellowstone/Teton is still the place that does it for me. DS is on an internship up in Jackson for the summer. He sends pictures daily of where he is hiking or camping or working (hardly seems like work). My DH & younger DS changed there annual Colorado trek to Jackson Hole this year.

I wish I could go with them

Well, guess what? I am going there next week. My sister and her family are coming along and so is my mother. We have a 2 and 3 bedroom unit at the WorldMark in West Yellowstone. I can't wait. I hope I am blown away by it. We are also going to some time out to see Glacier National Park on the way to Canmore Canada. This is the summer trip I've been dreaming of.

I love it so much in Colorado, I think I want to buy a house here somewhere. Don't know if and when I'll ever be able to afford one. But, I am a dreamer.

I was going to say that if you think the Tetons are incredible, wait til you see Glacier NP. Similar in "awesomeness" to the Swiss Alps. Yellowstone is very geologically interesting, but Glacier is breath taking. We'll be there in August.

Enjoy the rest of your trip.

I too love Colorado. My DS is in Buena Vista working this summer, at the foot of the 5 Collegiate Peaks, all over 14,000 ft.
