  • Differences in Prices on Wyndham Ebay Auctions?

I truly am puzzled by Ebay sometimes. I bought 154,000 Wyndham Smoky Mountain points off Ebay over a month ago and the auction went for $26.00. I checked this one that just ended and it bid up to $460. Do you think it makes a difference on time of the week that an auction closes on whether you get a good deal or not?

Stripped vs. loaded, MFs due vs. not due, closing costs, end of use year vs. beginning, etc. Or, just the right (or wrong) time with different numbers of interested bidders.

It sure is strange how it fluctuates, Brian. I'm watching another one for 189,000 points at Wyndham Smoky and it's up over $500 but hasn't ended yet.

I wonder what 154,000 resale Smoky points went for a couple of years ago before the economy tanked? I figure pretty much every brand has taken a hit with the recession. It also seems to me that EOY doesn't sell as well as an every year points package.

My impression has been that Smoky has always done a little better than average, because its MF/K ratio is pretty decent. If I were to add on, that's one of the resorts I'd consider. The EOY is probably a factor, too---closing costs are fixed, so that tends to really bump up the per/K acquisition costs.

What is the advantage/disadvantage of different use year beginning dates?
