  • So how did I do with this 28K Wyndham trade in Orlando?

I'm heading to Orlando December and don't want to get stuck with something not nice so called today to do an exchange and need an opinion or two.

I need at least a 2 bedroom and RCI had Vistana Resort and Holiday Inn Club Vacations at Orange Lake Resort - West Village (#0670) available.

I've been to Vistana and didn't want to chance a non-remodeled room so put on hold the Holiday Inn - Orange lake unit.
Was this a good trade for a 28K deposit?
    Was Vistana a better option?

I also have an AC with II that I could get a 3 bedroom Marriott Grande Vista for around $330. Should I take that instead?
    The AC expires in Feb.

I also have an RCI resort certificate (the one they gave us with the lawsuit) that I'm not sure when it expires. I was thinking to see if I could get the Vistana closer to the date with that, but not sure of the demand in early December since I usually stay with DVC points at that time and haven't paid attention to the ex-ops for that timeframe.

So what do you guys think?

I think I'd go with the 3br at Marriott, unless you are pretty sure you'll use the AC at a later date.

No complaints about the other resorts at all, just personally prefer Grande Vista.

Thanks. I'd love to use it at a later date but doubt I'll be using it by February when it expires. Probably April but by then it's no good.

I read that they are doing construction at the Grande Vista. Do you know how extensive the construction is? It says there will be scafolding up around the resort on the II website.

I went to lunch there at the clubhouse last week, but didn't drive through the property. It is a huge resort! I'll try to head down there in a few days and let you know what I see..

          Thanks.
I think I'll call the resort and find out how extensive the renovations are.

3BD vs 2BD. RCI exchange rate vs II exchange rate. 28K MF fee vs AC.

I will take 3BD unless I have to use the RCI week.

              Thanks.

I took your advice and booked the Marriott.

I'm sure I can find a place to use that 28K deposit later on.

Now I gotta cancel the unit on hold.

I called the resort and it seems it's only one building involved. Hopefully it won't be my building. They are also closing one of the pools but I doubt I'll be using the pool in December anyway. Just going to visit friends and family and of course see the lights at Disney. Just wanted a comfy place for all of us and in case my brother and family decide to tag along for a night or two.

It says the unit sleeps 12. That must be a huge unit.

                  Grande Vista

We have stayed at Vista twice. The second time there was construction but it was never a problem. There are two main pools, one on each side of the lagoon so I would suggest one of those buildings. The units are huge. The 3br is huge. Have only stayed in the lockoff and the 2BR at vista and the 2 BR we stayed in had a king bed in the master, pullout couch in the LR, and two doubles and a pullout in the lockoff.

Was just in Orlando last week and like Vistana Villages but not Vistana Resort.

Thanks Geraline. I'm at Kidani now and moving to Bonnet Creek this weekend. It's been hot this week. I too like Vistana Villages. Never stayed in the Orlando marriotts so this will be a first for me. Excited though.

We just bought at Bonnet Creek. Looking forward to staying there. Like Marriott Grande Vista and Cypress Harbor. Others are nice but those 2 are our favorites.

I hope you didn't buy retail? If you did keep reading here on the forum.

My children just stayed at Bonnet Creek and were bothered constantly by the sale people. They finally had to tell them, DON'T CALL BACK!!! We have never had any trouble like this before. We own at Wyndham and DVC. I guess we will have to put our foot down as soon as we arrive at our next Wyndham destination.

Grande Vista is REALLY nice, you will enjoy it. Most units have very nice views of the golf course, lakes or the pool.

I'm sure I will. You know I'm a Marriott girl.

I gotta say though that this Presidential suite at BC is probably the nicest unit I've ever stayed in, in a timeshare.
Only negative so far is that there was no wine opener in the room and had to wait 1/2 hour last night for them to bring a replacement and that the sales weasels already called at 845am. Good thing I was already awake or I'd give them a piece of my mind.
