  • SO frustrated with Wyndham weeks - venting

I absolutely love my timeshare at Wyndham Kona Hawaiian Resort. Haven't been able to use it the last couple of times so have rented it for my maintenance fees. I just rented my 2011 week and have been having the worst time getting a confirmation!!

First WYN says they don't send email confirmations, I have to wait for the hard copy, should arrive within 14 days. Weird, because last time I got an email, no problem. I call back and get someone who agrees to send email and copy my renter. Nothing happens. Renter getting concerned, having given me cash up front to cover my fees. I don't blame her!

Finally, we just did a three way call so she could hear someone from Wyndham confirm that she is in the system for the requested dates. Done, with another promise of an email that has not arrived. In the meantime, she had tried calling customer service (not the phone number for weeks owners) and was told they can only verify reservations that are made online. I cannot make online reservations because I am not a points owner. She called the resort, and was told they no longer get incoming guest names until a month ahead of time, and that she will need a hard copy guest certificate at checkin.

Why do they have to make this so difficult? I realize they don't want to help owners rent their units and have been actively making it less attractive to do so with the points owners. They are certainly giving me pause before doing it again. But even if I wasn't renting it, I'd want email confirmation before booking air. So frustrating. I guess they also want to push weeks owners to points. ARggggghhhhhhhh.

I think life for fix week owner is much better than floating week owner.

I have provided my renters with the reservation number, which they can call the resort to verify. This has always been sufficient, along with a signed rental agreement. You do not get guest certificates for these reservations, nor does the guest need one to check in. The fact that you have added their name as your guest is sufficient.

I gave her the reservation number, but WYN wouldn't give her any information since she wasn't the account owner. The resort doesn't have the reservation in its system yet, I even checked myself and was told the same thing.

Wow, I have never run into that problem. When I make a reservation through Wyndham on my floating week intervals, I can call the resort the next day and they have the information in their system.

Do you own in Hawaii? I am getting the feeling that KHR and Mauna Loa owners go through a different "system," such as it is.

When I call the number i have for Wyndham weeks, there is a special prompt for Hawaii, so they must be handled differently. One of the people I spoke with last week said there are only two of them who deal with mailing out the confirmations. So far I've had three people say they've put in a request to have the confirms emailed, but nada. At least my renter is happy, I really felt bad that she was worried she got scammed.
