  • Unhappy with lies

Stayed at 2 Wyndham Resorts the past two weeks and was happy with the stay at each. Villa Rica was great and Wyndham at Nashville was great except for being lied to. We were told that someone would be bringing up a welcoming gift which was brought up. He asked us about any problems and we told him about the shower head being awful and the fry pans should be non stick. Other then that, everything was great.
He started asking questions and when we said about paying to trade in through RCI he said we shouldn't have had to and he had to RCI Reps that work there all the time and he would set up an appt. for us.
BS: All it was when we went was a sales presentation. Hey, tell me the truth and stop trying to bullshit me. Would I ever buy into Wyndham, not now. Would I without this? There was a good chance.
Why can't these companies stop the BS and be honest?

It is not a product where there are enough customer will go in, look around, and ask for sales because they want to buy it.

And their boss did not try to make it that way since when they are sales, they did not work that way. Thus, they trained / designed the sale program just like they know.

There may have some companies that has more honest sale people and has less lie. Wyndham is not one of them. Although some of its resorts is much lay back than the others.

Glad you have a good time.

      Standard Procedure

We stayed at Glacier Canyon last month. The rep issuing parking permits gave us the line about knowing how busy we were and they weren't trying to sell, just get owner input on unit repairs, etc. and offer a welcome gift. My husband set a time, but I knew what was up, so told him to leave prior to the time so we wouldn't get trapped. I was right; he insisted he needed us both there or would have to reschedule. I escorted him to the door and told him we had no intention to do anything but enjoy our vacation in the water parks. After that, I unplugged the phones and left them that way through the rest of our stay. We had a wonderful time at a great resort. The rest of the staff was five star worthy.
When I got home and filled out the Wyndham customer survey, I said all was great except for the salesman who lied about his intentions.

when we stayed at Wyndham Nashville, a rep came to the room and only stayed about 5 minutes. She said we could trade our weeks for Wyndham points and not have to use RCI. I said yes, but you need to own Wyndham to do that. she said she would look it up and leave us a mesage. we never heard from her agian, but we did get a nice bag.

And that would have been fine with me. Why can't they all handle it that way?

            I agree

I agree with you. It was so nice when we stayed at Ocean Boulevard in May. I told the guy we weren't interested, and they actually left us alone. I was suspicious when someone called the second morning of our stay, but she just asked if everything was okay in the unit and was there anything she could do for us. I said all was fine, and that's the last we heard.

              Owner updates -- sales pitch

My experience with Wyndham is that the resorts are great. My family loves them. We've had some great vacations and love the amenities.

It took us some time to realize that the owner update/free gift was just a sales pitch. The tote bags and other stuff are not worth it. If I am interested in purchasing more points (and I'm not), I'll call them or buy after market.

We use a couple of techniques we use:

Technique 1. My wife and kids stay in the car and I check in. If the parking pass desk asks about a meeting or breakfast, I tell them that I have to check with my wife and will call them.

Technique 2. Unplug the phone. This is a MUST. If anyone we would need to get a call from wants to get in touch with us, they'd call our cell phone. If you do leave the phone plugged in, don't answer the phones. Let messages go to voice mail where you can screen them.

BTW, if there are problems with your unit, don't talk with the sales/parking person. Call housekeeping or the front desk.

On a happy note. We stayed at both Wyndham Nashville and Fairfield Glade this year. All we had to do was say "no" to the owner update/breakfast and they said "ok". We were surprised. The folks at Fairfield Glade were superb. I'd go there with may family again for sure!

There are a handful of resorts that sold without the BS. The Crane in Barbados is one, and One Napali Way in Hawaii is another. But they are rare.

My husband and I have done several "owner updates" at different Wyndham resorts. We have done updates with Wyndham Nashville at least 4 times! Nashville is one of the toughest we have dealt with! They will do just about anything to get you on the hook. (we have never bought from them). I guess we just enjoy the challenge -

My in-laws just returned from a Wyndam trade via RCI in Orlando. They were told that they "had" to attend a meeting because Wyndam was now the owner of RCI. They never went to the meeting.

On a recent stay in Aruba, the first resort was Bluegreen La Cabana - when I asked for tourist info, they sent me to the BG desk where I was given the information. They asked if I would attend and owner update/TS tour and I said no and that I had three rooms. They asked for the three rooms numbers so they would know not to contact us and they did not, quite refreshing.

Second resort was Marriott Aruba Surf and Ocean Club - Ocean Club did call the room one time and nothing at all from the Surf Club.

Manhattan Club called me at home prior to my arrival to ask if I had "any requests" but quickly started pushing the tour - I said no. Upon arrival they did put info under the door, called one time, I said no and that was it.

Bluegreen Solara Surfside - asked, I said no, that was it.

Seems as if Wyndham is just REALLY sneaky and pushy.

                        In Calif. pushy also

We stayed about a month ago at the Worldmark Anaheim and the woman was so pushy we walked another way each time to avoid her. They called our room about 3 different times the same day. I am and have been a Worldmark owner for sprox. 10 years and both a brother n law and niece have also purchased after staying with us. We all now try to avoid any of their sales people.

When I sent my DD & her friend to Bonnet Creek, the sales staff was driving them crazy. Wouldn't stop leaving messages, and even approached them in the lobby. They were staying in the main building.....Which they absolutely loved, btw.

I finally called and informed them that the girls were not even old enough to purchase a timeshare, and that they were there on a guest certificate. Sheesh!

Both of my kids have stayed in timeshares with friends, and this was the first time that I actually had to make a call to the sales staff.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Was at Bonnet Creek in December. We ask about trading some points for disney tickets, which because we bought resale we did not qualify for. This guy told us we needed to talk to someone about this because they could fix it. Then went to get our car pass.

They suggested we do an owner update at which time I told them we had done an owner update in Destin in August and should not need to do this.

They informed me that you can do an owners update every 14 days if you want too. Anyway we went to the owners update for the $75.00 gift card. I am a sucker for doing timeshare tours (but did learn to buy resale).

At the owner update the sales guy was VERY VERY pushy. He told us everything the guy had told us in Destin was wrong. We told him we were not there to purchase anything....which we also told them at the parking pass counter.

He then got frustrated with us and said that everytime we did an owners update any offers they offered us would get worse......as in if they offered us something at 15,000 this time it would go up to like 17,000 next time and they would eventually just stop letting us do updates......Hahaha, as if that would be a bad thing.

I told him we planned on coming to Bonnet Creek later in the year and the main reason we went to the update (besides the gift card) was to see the 4 bedroom Presidential Suite. He then informed me that we DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH POINTS for that. I just laughed at him and said oh yes we do. He was all indignant and said he knew his job and wanted me to explain how I thought I had enough points to get a 4bd Presidential. I informed him we were coming down Thanksgiving Week, which is considered an off week. He finally conceded that I knew what I was talkikng about BUT that I would never be able to snag one. Started explaining to me how they book up and I needed ARP so more reason I need to buy retail. I just looked at him and said I know how it works and that we were prepared to get two condos if need be. He got really upset and walked out. A few minutes later he came in and said we could go get our gift card.

I filled out a survey on how the salesperson did. I wrote the following,.....

Someone at Wyndham is a liar......not sure if it was the saleman in Destin or the one here at Bonnet Creek.....or possibly both. I suggest Wyndham sales people get their information together before meeting with a client.

We told this dufus before he starte4d that we would never buy directly from Wyndham as I got my resale for $1 so why pay more. Reminded him of this again when he told us the offers would get worse. Everytime he tried to shoot us a lie I corrected him. I don't think he was having a good day.

I think we will just stay away from the updates for a while.

(Just want to say I DO NOT THINK I KNOW IT ALL. But I don't like it when they try to lie to me. I know I have a lot to learn about timesharing and look forward to learning from all the wonderful people here.)

                            Sorry so long.
