  • The new RCI interface...

...is now live. It works more or less how you'd expect. The initial search window is limited in capability, but it dumps you into the "regular" weeks interface, where you can search as normal.

To a first order approximation: anything that would be considered "in season" for the region is Prime. Shoulder-but-still-nominally-red looks to be High. Everything that is in Weeks appears to be visible.

So, just as we expected: it will be good for high-value exchanges, but maybe not much else.

Sounds similar to BGs new interface - good for some things but a let down for savvy exchangers.

I'm getting an error when I try to use it. I called Wyndham and they're working on the problem. My error said my RCI account can't be located.

Did a simple glance look to me, all red 2 BD is 243K and 1 BD is 143k even in 45 days windows.

I posted a sighting in the DVC thread that has some High season studios in late August, but Orlando is "red year round".

But, yes---as with the other mini-system portals, there is no last-minute discount window.

See can you see the same inventory as RCI points?

If it is similar to Bluegreen, you are seeing the 'weeks' inventory.

Bluegreen is able to see weeks and if you are a "premeire" member (developer) you also have access to points.

It's straight Weeks as far as I can tell. No additions nor subtractions.

So with this new system and FL being all "red", I guess there's no chance of exchanging my 28K nonvisible for an Orlando 2 bedroom somewhere is there or even an off season beach week in FL?

If so my 28K might be useless to me.

The 28K deposit should play under the old rules---low TPU, but possibly great for a last-minute or off-season Orlando trade.

                        Well, I got in.

I see some decent stuff in FL for the summer at decent Wyn points.

This might not be such a bad thing afterall.

That drastically changes the way Wyndham works in RCI, because it used to be great for *low-value* exchanges, but nothing else.

But, no one ownership is ever great for everything. So, again, a portfolio approach will be useful, because the new credit-based Weeks scheme makes it worth using high-value deposits to obtain low-value exchanges, thanks to "change back."
B posted this elsewhere but as usual, he hit the nail on the head.....

And here is an example of the "down-side"

The portal is running well, if you can stomach the new price list.

There's a week in RCI that I've had my eye on, a 1-BR shoulder season for 15 TP. It's listed at 95,000 Wyndham points.

I pay between $15 and $25 per TP in maintenance (depending on what I use for the deposit), so 15 TP costs me $225 to $375 (say $300) plus exchange fee.

I pay $5.60 per 1,000 Wyndham points, so using 95,000 Wyndham points costs me $530 plus the RCI exchange fee (and more if I also have to pay a transaction fee or housekeeping fee).

So in this example, using Wyndham points to book the week would mean overpaying by $230 plus transaction/housekeeping costs. With exchange fees, that's an upcharge of about 50% versus using an RCI Weeks deposit.

                              Are you sure?

Just did a search on New York. Nothing, zero.

So maybe there is a upbound on what TPU unit you can get?

I will be glad if you tell me I was wrong on this one.
