  • Which week is "My Week" ?

Just recently after 3+ years my RCI vacation search hit. I received an email saying my vacation was confirmed. Too bad it's 4 weeks away from today and I'm already booked to be on another vacation.

    1) Since I cannot trade or rent this vacation because it's not my week, how do I know what week is my week since this is a Wyndham deposit into RCI weeks?

    2) Is there any real value in RCI deposits? For 5 years now for anything good all I hear is "sorry, that property is sold out"

Sorry for the newb questions. your help is appreciated.

For 1) look like you have an on-going search, if that is the case, you need to log into RCI (you should get your RCI account number from Wyndham, than use on-line to set up the account, if you did that step, than log in), after you login, you will see "my account", and it will have your holding week status.

    2) it depends on where you want to go. Some places with a lot more resorts, Wyndham's RCI deposit do have better value. If you give a 2 year search period, and still can not find anything, than maybe there is simple no deposit on the time slot you are looking for.

Wyndham has changed its RCI deposit method, your existing deposit is actually quite valuable if you know how to use it. If you don't mind, let us know where/when you want to go, and what kind of Wyndham deposit you have. Good luck.

Hi and welcome to TS4Ms - I read your other thread as well.

To clarify - be sure to call RCI and cancel your confirmation within 24 hours of receiving the email.

And as to what Jya-Ning is asking - WHAT did you deposit into RCI?
With Wyndham, you can deposit (or used to be able to - it changed on 1/11/11) a blue studio for 28K Wyn points, a blue 2BR for 77K points - so it does matter how many points you used and what size unit u deposited for other to tell u what it is now worth.

The new Wyndham/RCI system is very straight forward - you log into your regular Wyn Account and thru tat website link thru to RCI where u then do a search, if u see something u like, it tells u how many Wyn points it takes to get that exchange.
      Simple.

Thanks all. I've called RCI and cancelled the reservation. The truth is that it's EXACTLY what I wanted and exactly what I asked for. Unfortunately it came through after I booked travel to the same area and a resort next door. 3 weeks just isn't sufficient to book a family trip.

To answer your questions, each year I book 68K Wyndham points into RCI weeks. I rarely use them because the resorts I want are never available. I've had this search ongoing for 2-3 years and it came through just a little too late.

I'm fully aware that I need to become more savvy to take advantage of both my Wyndham and RCI accounts, but to this point it's been a waste of time and money.

Here is some info about the new system with RCI taken from the Wyn website.

          Home/ My Membership
          RCI® Exchanges

Use your Worldwide Exchange benefit to search availability and book your RCI vacations instantly online or request an RCI deposit using your CLUB WYNDHAM® Plus points.

          Search and Book on RCI
You may search and book instantly online with RCI if you deposited points on or after January 11, 2011. If you deposited points before January 11, 2011 and want to book with RCI, please call 1-800-572-0931 for assistance.

Request to Deposit My Points with RCI
Approaching the end of your Use Year and still have points in your account? Or looking to travel outside of the CLUB WYNDHAM Plus resort collection? Request to deposit your points with RCI.

RCI - Refer to the chart below to determine the points required based upon the unit type and demand. Visit Worldwide External Exchange in Wyndham Wise, Your Online Learning Center for details on exchange deposit guidelines.

When making multiple deposits, please submit each request separately.

Step 1 of 4: Select Points to Deposit
          Member Name: Pxxxxxx Gxxxxxx
          Member Number 0099XXXXXXXX

1.Select the points you would like to deposit:

          Demand Studio or 1 Bedroom/ 2 Bedroom/ 3 Bedroom or More
          Prime 143,000 224,000 308,000
          High 121,000 184,000 258,000
          Value 95,000 140,000 199,000
          Quiet 74,000 109,000 161,000

2.Please select the Use Year End Date you would like to use for your deposit:

Please note: If you have zero points available with a given expiration date, it will not show below.

Use Year End Date Points Available
          Sep 30, 2011 1,000

So to now get a 2BR in high time in RCI, it will take 184K Wyndham points plus the RCI exchange fee.

Sorry you are not having success with your Wyndham timeshare. Although I have made some RCI deposits with my Wyndham points, I have not yet made an exchange. Generally I have thought it was better use of my points within the Wyndham system (at Wyn resorts) than exchanging with RCI. Now the "rules have changed" and some people will like exchanging with RCI better and others will not.

Stay around these forums and ask any questions that you can think of. We will try to help you make better use of your timeshare!

There is no 68k week before or after the change.

Assume you mean 28k, unfortunately, it has been reduced a lot of its ability by the new RCI change. But it is still good for 45 days travel or place with enough resorts now. Which means, you will have to plan to spend them on places that very close to you. Or place where RCI now have a lot deposits. Or plan a trip, reserve a places that can be canceled, than try to get one, which is not easy to do for someone who have yet success. So try some place that close to you, plan this as a short week (in other word, stay in resorts like 4 days or 5 days instead of 1 whole week).

Let us know where and when you may want to go beside any places close to you.
