I was reading somewhere that EOY contracts are not beneficial? Can someone explain this? I already have RCI points so I thought EOY would be nice not to have to pay a huge MF every year.

I don't know what point you are asking about, why they would not be beneficial, but, some start that way because it is less of a financial committment.
We did . . . but, then, that was in the Good Ole Days, so may not apply.
The next year we picked up the other half, so fee-wise, it was what it was, a full fee every year.
It would be nice to be back there, with just a couple of EOYs to get rid of (which we did long ago.)RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

there was a small discussion here
2011 program fee assessment increase biennial
and a BIG discussion HERE
2011 "Program Fee" Assessment Increase on Biennial Contracts
I did not read the big long thread so do not know the outcome of the 100% increase in program fees.
Please report back with what you find out....

1. can no longer transfer points between accounts - before, if you had extra points or needed more points for a resie, members could transfer points for free. Now - no longer allowed at all. Period.
2. raised guest certs from $25 to $99/129 online/phone so if you have two units booked at the same resort at the same time - you have to pay - even if u r checking into both units for family.
3. charges transaction fees to do anything with your account, make a reservation, deposit into exchange company - you had to time when u do your transactions so u can do multiple tasks on the same day to only get charged one fee (you do get 1 free transaction for every 77K points you own) but if your plan was to make 3-4 3-4 day resies, you can be out of transactions fast)
4. they took away our ability to deposit 28/63/77K deposits in RCI/II and now require a minimum of 70+ points to get a studio that used to cost 28K
5. and then there are all those pesky housekeeping fees they charge for less then 7 day stays.....
This all became wayyyyy to much trouble for me.....I still have some points but will be used to make resies at one resort I visit frequently and/or to make 2 resies per year to deposit in SFX (of course since I only have one free guest cert per year, if I give SFX TWO weeks, I have to pay the $99 guest cert fee )
Edit - I read your other post - you want a specific resort - please see my post on the other thread and contact thru PM the three members I named - they will help you with what you need and where u want to go.
About EOY - if Wyndham "fixes" the overcharge and you only want to visit the resort every other year - buying the amount of points you need - say 238,000 - makes sense. If Wyndham continues to overcharge for EOY - you have to decide if it is worth it for you.
Good Luck....
