  • Leukemia Update

During our stay, here at Westgate Smokie Mountain, my 7 years old ended up in a hospital twice, we believed it was a stubborn flu....with high fever,
she has not responded to antibiotics...
She has been feverish for 3 weeks and 3 diff antibiotics... no improvement.
Never had a blood test. Finally at the Hospital they did a bloodtest and I was told it is Leukemia, but to make sure they will repeat the test.
By the time the doctor came back for second time, the test was on its way to Knoxville... to the pathology....
We will be home, Toronto on monday.
Already made appt with our family doctor.
I would welcome any stories, advice, PM.
    What is next.....?

I feel for you. Hopefully they have caught it in early stage and it will be a short time before s he is back to his old self. They have made many advancements in leukemia and it is no longer a death sentence. Think positive and know we are here for you. shaggy

So sorry. You can get a lot of info at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® - Official Website. Think positive because there are so many new things that the researchers and doctors can use to help your child.

I am so sorry you are going through this. Do you know what kind of Leukemia it is yet? They have made such strides in treating this disease in the last several years, especially in children. Make sure you take her to pediatric cancer specialists who are up on the latest developments.
What is your daughter's name? I will pray for her.

So sorry to hear your news, I do hope it is an error. I've had 2 different test errors in the last couple of months, so it is possible. My well wishes to you and your family, especially your daughter.

                          Leukemia

I am very excited to share with everybody the great news:
after a few bloodtest, finally yesterday we were told, that
                          my daughters CBC is normal!!!!!
Her white and red cells were messed up by either a sideeffects of
                          CLYNDAMICIN or a viral infection.
She is almost as acitve as she was a month ago, when this whole ordeal started.
                          Lession to be learned.
DO NOT TAKE CLYNDAMICIN and do not believe at the first diagnosys.
Go for second or even third!!!!
Thank you for the warm thought!

I am so glad that after further testing, you got a more positive diagnosis. It is so scary when you get sick far from home - glad the specialists were able to sort this out.
