  • Have you ever had to move rooms?

I've shyed away from booking anything with Wyndham that says:

Note: Transaction combines two reservations and may require a room change.

Sometimes there is a 20K to 30K points difference between having a split reservation and not.

I've stayed on a few of these split reservations and the front desk has always been able to keep us in the same room so am wondering, what is you guys experience on having to move.

Have they made you move like the system says might happen or is moving dependent on the size of the resort. I've mostly been to pretty big resorts but am wondering what would happen if I booked into someplace like Royal Vista which is smaller and has some fixed weeks also.

    Any experience?

I have actually had to move at BC and GD. Both resorts were as helpful as possible. Left packed belongings inside near door, and cold items bagged, but in the fridge. They moved all to the new unit while we were away for the day.

Most times they are able to keep us where we start out.

It is unlikely you'll be moved unless there are fixed weeks involved. It is an extra cleaning for them if they move you so they try to avoid it as much as possible.

We had two weeks through an exchange at a Wyndham resort in the Poconos last summer. I asked if it was possible to stay both weeks in the same unit. They had to change the room we were originally set to use, but worked it out. I told them they didn't need to do the end of week cleaning and they were happy to oblige. The only thing they brought us was more toilet paper and paper towels. We stayed in May, so there were plenty of empty units. I don't know if staying in the same unit would have been possible if it was middle of summer. Call ahead to see if they may be able to accommodate your request. Maybe if you give them some notice they can work something out for you.

Does it cost MORE points to book a split resie or LESS points? Just curious.

            I've seen more and less.

I know I've rented from people who have done the split reservation and the resort was able to keep us in the same room. I guess it makes sense for them since they don't have to do the housekeeping.

I wonder though, if they charge you more housekeeping points if you book one of these split reservations.

They do charge you more in housekeeping fees, so if they end up not moving you, you should call Wyndham after your trip and get a credit for the extra housekeeping credits charged.

They used to but they don't anymore if you book on-line. I think they fixed the on-line issue of charging 2 housekeeping fees for split ressies back in October 2009.

I never had to move (my reservations across days not weeks). However, I only recently noticed that I was wasting my house keeping credits with the split reservations. I was charged 2 house keeping credits just last week so maybe I should call them and see what they say.

Thanks for the tip (and the extra cash free weekend). I just called and had the housekeeping credits put back into my account.

Getting ready to find out at BC. Will only be 1/4 starting friday. Did charge two
HC with an online reservation. If not moved will try for HC credit.

It depends on which weeks the days came out of as they are leftovers from short stays.
If there is a change of season, e.g. and thus week/day value, that will be reflected.
