  • Purchased a resale

I purchased a resale and everything look correct except for two things...

    1. My Wyndham login says I am VIP When I call they reference my VIP status...

    2. I was supposed to have 311000 points to use before the end of the year use that ends Dec 31st but Wyndham says I have none. What should I do about it. The Timeshare company that sold it to me says they will book me a trip for an upcomming trip I want to take free of charge while they research the problem. (They seem to be really helpful) If not able to get the points added to my account soon I think I should be reembursed for the MX fees I have paid for the year and they should pay the fees for the rest of this year ($1074) as I will not be able to use any points this year..

    Any advise would be helpful...

    1. Probably they errorly record it. You will remain as VIP until they do audit. They usually find out, especially if you take an owner update.

    2. Sounds reasonable. Wyndham sometime do have some issues on transfer the ownership, that probably be the reason they mistake you as VIP.

Agree with Jya-Ning on the resolution of things.

The amount of the MF seems out of whack though, $1,074 for probable Sept-Dec period, that equates to $10/K.

      What did you buy.?

I don't know who you purchased from, but it makes sense that if they screwed up the listing, they've got enough spare points in various accounts to book you a trip. If you planned on using the points and paying for them, there would seem to be no argument about the MFs if the broker makes good.

MX fees are $134 a month. 346K points at La Cascada. I have paid for three months and would start paying monthly at the end of this month. The total would be $134 x 8 = $1072 (May-Dec). I don't get to use any points this year and I don't feel I should have to pay any MX fees for this year...

311k points are a lot and we could strech them out or roll them over to RCI. I just want to be duely compensated for my loss of points. Booking one trip for me would not be adequate. Even if you take the low end and say roll it into MX fees, 311k would be worth over $600.

I don't know if we will be able to keep the VIP but I am going to stay quiet and find out. I was not expecting VIP status.

Little upset at the whole process. The place I was going to buy was at Santee and was listed as a deeded property but found out it was an A&A. Switched to this property and everthing seemed ok until I got access today and found out that there were no points availible for this use year, other than Wyndham took the entire 10 weeks to process the transfer. I saw an estopple for the property and it showed 311k point availible. Wyndham told me an additional estopple was requested later but I didn't see that one.

More to come tomorrow. I would prefer to not have to deal with the selling company to book additional vacations for this year but we will see. The selling agent has been really helpful. Just does not seem like it should be this difficult. It is a shame there are so many crooks in the TS resale business. (not saying my seller is)....

There are plenty of crooks, but also plenty of confusion and honest mistakes. If the latter, you should be able to get it straightened out to your satisfaction or have the option to cancel/rescind if your contract clearly sets forth what you were to receive and it was not delivered.

Well, they are going to refund the $402 I pid them in Mx fees when I bought it and pay the remaining $670 in Mx fees left until the end of the year.

Well Wyndham fixed my account and I am no longer a VIP. Was kinda hoping it would have stayed.

This happened to us too when we first bought re-sale (we very listed as the original owners/purchasers AND VIP status). Wyndham caught the mistake after a couple years.

Interesting. How did you ever get ahold of them. I purchased a timeshare almost a year ago and have yet to find out if I can convert it to points. Still waiting on everything to be taken care of (previous owner left some loose ends).
