  • Combining resale points with Developer points through "owner update" session...

I have had my Wyndham points since June 2011. I bought all of my points resale. I've used them twice and both times I was invited to an "owner update" session.

During this time they tried to sell me additional points through the developer. The spin was that by combining my resale points with the developer points I would be eligible for all the Wyndham benefits. I would be a "legitimate" owner (the EXACT words they used!!).

Does this happen often? If so, is it a gimic or is there any truth to what they are trying to sell me?

Where should I go to learn more about the pros and cons about buying resale? I want to make sure I know exactly what I'm in for .... (both good and bad)

    Thanks a bunch!!

I heard the same thing at a Shell Vacation Club owners update, so would also be interested in hearing whether or not this actually works. BocaBum can chime in if I am wrong, but I believe BlueGreen used to do something similar where they would "get the red out" of resale points.

Be VERY careful though, cause I could see this being like the "we'll buy / sell your existing TS's" and then all they do is put them on the market. Just because they are combined, does not mean they will entitle you to all the same things. As many will attest, get it in writing.

BS. They are legitimate as they stand - no need to pay 10 to 100 more than the resale value - the TRUE value - to get a potential note in your file that could be changed to "non-qualified" later at their whim.

DO NOT BUY WYNDHAM DEVELOPER POINTS EVER! THEY ARE A RIPOFF.

I may stand to be corrected, but by "legitimate" I assume the OP meant they qualify for all the benefits that resale points do not. I agree though, that even then buying from the developer does not warrent the thousands of dollars extra. You will never get back what you pay.

What said has no legal bonding. If you think whatever is important to you, malke sure it is on the contract. And if that is gone, make sure all the contract is void and they return all the consideration back to you.

As of now, you are legit owner. Although not in sale's eyes.
