  • What is true/false abt Wyndham ownership?

    Hi all,

We were at Glacier Canyon this weekend and attended the sales presentation just for info as we're considering buying a resale (don't worry, we would never buy from the developer!)

Out of all the various BS they were spouting, I'd like to know how much of it was true and false, before we go further with this.

My husband asked about cleaning fees and were told there were none, but I see lots of people mentioning housekeeping credits.

The sales guy talked about RCI, but did not mention the exchange fee. How much is that?

He also said you could carry points over for up to 3 years but from reading here that doesn't seem to be the case?

Another thing was 'renting points from Wyndham', for $8 p/K. True or not?

Frankly I don't understand how these companies are still in business, they should have been shut down years ago for the kind of fraudulent activity they engage in. It certainly wouldn't take much work on the part of the attorney general to prove that they are using deceptive sales practices.

Good for you resisting the sales pressure

        To answer your questions:

There are housekeeping credits required for each stay based on the unit size but you get so many a year based on how many points you own. Unless you do a lot of short 2-3 stays, you should have enough credits and will not need to buy any additional credits. If needed, they can be purchased for 2.25 a credit. So not a total lie - most people do not pay any cleaning fees.

Points can be stretched for 3 years thru the use of the Credit Pool. Before your use year begins you place your points into the credit pool ($39 fee) and they are then good for 3 years. However, they then can not be used for ARP (Advanced Reservation Priority) at your home resort (13 months out) nor can they be directly deposited into RCI without some booking, cancelling steps first. So not a lie.

It is also true that you can rent points from Wyndham for $8 or $10 per K but there are rules and limits that have to be followed to do so like only for enough points to make the last day of a needed reservation or within 90 days of reservation and only for as many points as owned.

HTH You can learn a lot about Wyndham by going back and reading a lot of the past posts on the forum here.
