  • New Fairfield resort The Inn at Glacier Canyon

Fairfield Resorts, Inc., the world’s largest vacation ownership company with more than 500,000 owner families, June 30 unveiled plans for , a new, 201-unit vacation ownership resort now being developed adjacent to the Wilderness Hotel and Golf Resort in Wisconsin Dells, WI. The resort will become Fairfield’s second in the Dells area, and will provide Fairfield owners and guests with direct access to one of the area’s most popular indoor and outdoor water park attractions.

“The Dells has been a very popular vacation destination for our owners, especially those in the Midwest, for the past two decades,” said Franz Hanning, president and CEO of Wyndham Vacation Ownership, the parent company of Fairfield Resorts. “With all that Glacier Canyon has to offer, including its prime location and some of the area’s finest year-round amenities, it promises to attract owners and guests from every corner of the country.”

The first phase of construction began in December 2005, and upon completion, will yield 102 vacation ownership units. The resort’s first phase is scheduled to open in late spring 2007 and will include a combination of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom units, 18 of which will be high-end penthouse-style Presidential Suites. All units will be fully-furnished with proposed features including a gas fireplace, washer/dryer, full kitchen, whirlpool bath, living and dining area and more. The second phase of construction, which will include an additional 99 units with interior corridors providing access to all of the Wilderness Hotel and Golf Resort amenities throughout the year, is scheduled to begin by fall 2007.

Through a joint venture with the Wilderness Hotel and Golf Resort, Fairfield owners will be able to enjoy all resort amenities including three indoor water parks totaling nearly 250,000 square feet, and more than 200,000 square feet of outdoor water parks, encompassing the equivalent of more than seven football fields. The resort area also includes a 30,000 square foot indoor play park, a variety of restaurants and more. In summer of 2007, Glacier Canyon Golf Club, a new Championship 18-hole golf course designed by world renowned golf course designers Hurdzan Fry, will be unveiled at the resort. Also a popular winter vacation destination, the Glacier Canyon resort area will feature an outside ice skating rink and a snow-tubing run.

Fairfield Wisconsin Dells at Tamarack, a 158-unit resort which opened in 1986, is Fairfield’s other resort in the Dells area.

For you Fairfield owners, if you go to the new online directory, FF has a couple of pages on this resort, including the points chart. If you click on the artist's rendering picture on the page in the directory, it will take you to the web page for the resort in FF's website. You can do the same thing for the La Casada resort that will be opening in San Antonio next year, click on the picture of the resort and it will take you to the FF's web page for the resort.

New FF resort at San Francisco

        the story

The following is first few paragraphs of that story it is on San Francisco Business Times - June 23, 2006

"San Francisco's Canterbury Hotel will become a timeshare resort
following a $35 million sale to a division of Cendant.

The seller was Kor Group of Los Angeles, a boutique hotel operator that bought the Canterbury from former Giants owner Bob Lurie last year. Within a few months, San Francisco hotel Campton Place came on the market and Kor shifted its focus to that property, eventually buying it for $44 million, or $400,000 per room.

Cendant paid less than half that for each of the Canterbury's 244 rooms. But the company is planning a major renovation, according to Louis Stervinous, the Eastdil Secured broker who handled the transaction.

The Canterbury is only the second San Francisco timeshare for New York-based Cendant, which entered the market in 2004 with the acquisition of the 107-room Juliana Hotel from Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants Group LLC. The Juliana has become a WorldMark timeshare, part of Cendant's Trendwest line. The Canterbury will become part of Cendant's Fairfield Resorts line of timeshares. "

Canterbury Hotel is at Union Square.

UPPER MARLBORO, Md., April 17, 2006 – Less than two months since announcing the expansion of the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center at National Harbor, the 350-acre waterfront community and resort rising from the banks of the Potomac River just south of the new Woodrow Wilson Bridge, Prince George’s County Executive Jack Johnson and The Peterson Companies today jointly unveiled a roster of five new hospitality partners for the project. With today’s announcement, the total number of units at National Harbor stands close to 3,000.

          Fairfield Resorts

Fairfield Resorts is planning on developing 246 multi-bedroom and Presidential timeshare units at National Harbor. The urban resort will have 415,000 total square footage including retail space.

“We are very excited to be affiliated with National Harbor in the Metro Washington market, adding to our already existing presence and long-term success in the DC area, in Alexandria,” said Franz Hanning, President and CEO of the Cendant Timeshare Resort Group, which markets vacation ownership interests under the Fairfield Resorts brand. “The spectacular waterfront on the Potomac, the impressive Washington, D.C. attractions and The Mall all have tremendous appeal for timeshare owners.”

I took the tour of Fairfield Glacier Canyon on July 6

I don't have much to add but the Wilderness Resort is huge and the planned addition of the Fairfield timeshares will make it even larger. I was told there will be 5 phases, phase one looks like most of the buildings are either complete or at least under roof. The first building closest to the Fairfield sales office was occupied already!

I was quoted a price of $26,100 for 210,000 points and I about choked. 210,000 points is a two bedroom deluxe unit in prime season. The presentation wasn't to high pressure but the lady named Tracy who gave the little exit review was EXTREMELY RUDE because I did not buy.

              FF just gets better

So soon we'll have another high class resort to use with our FF points. Need more with so many selections? Buy at $.03 or less all you want. No need to pay developer prices as they are way out of line compared to resale. Someday the bargains will end if FF ever comes to their senses and starts supporting rather than devaluing resale points. Until then resale is the only way to buy FF and what a great bargain it is.
