Booking RCI through Wyndham??

I'm sorry, but I have not kept up with things and I was wondering if someone could refresh my memory. I don't know maybe things have even changed.

How long in advance do you need to start looking for the reservation you desire when you have your Wyndham points in RCI looking for an RCI reservation?

I want to reserve at DVC for Christmas next year. When should I start searching for it?

At this time, DVC generally deposits sometime around 6 months prior to use, give or take a month. When you deposit Wyn points, they are good in RCI for (at least) two years, so you could deposit and initiate a search any time now---whether you mean 12/13 or 12/14.

Fair warning: major holiday weeks are rare. You will need to be flexible about resort choice and unit size to maximize your chances of success. If you do not have a DVC confirmation by 4.5 months prior to use, it would be time to start making other plans. In particular, now that the are using the "all resorts" booking window of 7 months for deposits, owners have had a full four months to book in their home resort window, so the more popular resorts may not be deposited at all for major demand weeks.
