Just came back from a week in a 2BR in Nashville. The room was clean and quiet with only a couple of minor inconveniences. The cabinet that contains the plates and bowls is unreachable over the corner of the cabinet (the top shelf with the plates and bowls anyway), even my 6'4 husband had to stand on tiptoe. There was no sort of cookie sheet/pizza pan of any kind. And the couch was pretty worn out. Really very minor.
We did see that a couple of the buildings (including part of ours) had dumpsters and furniture out in the parking lot, so should be some updating.
Went to a virtually painless "owners update". The woman never actually offered to sell us any points at all. I think she heard the word "resale" and got the idea. Discussed the new VIP changes, looked at the new rules in the directory, and she believed me when I said I had no interest whatsoever in becoming VIP. I mentioned that people were upset about the VIP benefit changes and how that affects renting, she said that she is a licensed real estate agent and could not really comment on/or recommend the renting of FF by owners.
She did not believe that I had Fairshare Plus from my resale, so she did not go into a lot of detail about how I could avoid paying my maintenance fees. She did say that none of "her" owners pay maintenence fees. I had to ask for more info as I don't recall hearing this before. Seemed pretty unlikely to me.
She stated that FF will become Wyndam (sp?) very soon, and that we will be adding another 140 resorts with that change. She stated that the Cendant group will be split into 4 groups with all the real estate types in one, including RCI.
She told us the new point cost is $155/K, I almost choked on my free juice. My resale price of $1800/105K made me want to dance in my seat.
All in all it was pleasant, she stated that I was the most knowledgeable person that she had talked to in a long time regarding FF, gave us our free gift, and we were out the door in an hour.
Got one free GOO ticket. The other options were $20 FF money, $20GC to the Opry Mills mall, $20GC to Red Lobster. The GOO ticket would have cost me $32 from FF.
