  • Official Update to FF VIP owners

Fairfield has posted a "News Update" on its website to inform its VIP owners that it is clarifying the language in the new 2006 directory. FF VIP owners will continue to get their point discounts for all reservations booked within 60 days of check-in. A portion of the update is quoted below:

"As a result of your communication, we have determined that the points discount within 60-days of check in that all VIPs enjoy should continue to apply to all reservations made by VIP owners within 60 days of check in, even if the VIP owner is not traveling with his/her guest."

    Congratulations to the VIP owners.

    Congratulations to the VIP owners.
Just saw the update, this is good news. I would guess they got a lot of complaints from VIP owners who's sales people had used this as a major benefit to sell them VIP points. Whatever, it is good to see that they decided to do the right thing about it.
Unfortunately they did not reverse the part about unit size upgrades, which is basically the same issue. It benefits the VIP owner more than the guest. As I wrote to Fairfield, I can understand saying that guest are not eligible for VIP benefits such as early checkin, VIP checkin line, USA today and the other things that they actually give to the person who occupies the unit but the VIP points discount and the unit size upgrade are benefits given to the VIP owner at time of booking so they should have both been reinstated.
Don't get me wrong I am quite happy that they reversed this one part, as it was a big issue with many VIP owners.

I am happy about this also, although I am confused regarding the unit size upgrades though. My FF contact told me that was also reversed, but after reading your post and reading the material, I do not see anything about it and darn, it is too late for me to call him back.

          Lisa:

This is what in the Fairfield link
"As a reminder, reservations made by a VIP owner on behalf of a guest not traveling with the VIP owner are not eligible for the VIP upgrade benefit, as stated in the 2006-2007 FairShare Plus Member’s Directory. "

so upgrade is nor reverse (since original rumor is they was training upgrade is allowed if they travel with VIP anyway).
