  • Wyndham still great value for me, how about you?

I know there isn't alot of love for Wyndham lately but had to share a little.
I've finally learned after being an owner for about 5 years that if you learn the club rules and plan early that you can get some great vacations.

Well I only own 168K EOY so my vacation options aren't that varied but there are a few really nice resorts near me and Royal Vista is now a favorite.
I've managed to get a nice 3 stays out of my points for this year all oceanfront units and two 4 night stays and a 3 night stay.
I did run out of housekeeping fees so had to pay a little for those but still a decent deal for 11 nights oceanfront.
No reservation fees since I did everything in one call.
Now I've got my summer beach vacations almost covered.
Still pending one for HGVC at Marco.

    How about you?
    Did you get your reservations?
Are you still happy with your Wyndham ownership?

I think alot of the source of frustration is all the fees for trying to rent out your units.
Luckily I didn't buy to rent and will use them myself only or deposit to RCI, so I avoid all that bad blood.

And since these are 1 bedrooms I am planning on doing solo trips and see how I like vacationing solo.

Yes, although I will probably dump at least two contracts later this year since I have the CMV now (I have five smaller contracts, because I thought it would be easier to adjust as needed). I mainly use it for long holiday weekends at Glacier Canyon, so I have to be on the ball for that at the 10 month mark. I'm planning on getting a four bedroom presidential at Smoky Mountains for summer 2016 using ARP.

I think if you bought Wyn to rent you better be VIP with free HK and a lot of GCs, and have a good solid plan.

Well I've yet to use my ARP since my home resort is in San Antonio.
Maybe one day soon I'll have to go "home".

Riverside or La Cascada? We were at La Cascada over Columbus Day weekend, and it was quite nice.

          Total Cost for Eleven Nights

What did it cost you for fees and points
for two 4 night stays and a 3 night stay?

Las Cascadas. I've stayed in Riverside before and loved it.
It's got a great location. I saw Cascadas last time I was there but it was further from where I would want to be in San Antonio.
            Still loved lovely.

Did you get a Presidential unit?

No fees other than the $50 for the housekeeping fees since I was short and couldn't borrow ahead since I have an EOY.
So my MF's are around $800 plus the club fee which I pay monthly. No exchange fees or reservation fees since I used my free transaction for the year.

My wife and I do love our Wyndham ownership. We were able to get platinum on the cheap thanks to a sales manager at New Bern. Our children are older so we do not travel in the summertime and we often get our units at a 50% discount and a free upgrade. We have gotten a 7 night stay in a 2 bedroom deluxe at Smoky Mountains for 38,500 points.

When we do want a prime week we can use our RARP at 11 months and get pretty much anything we want. VIP for us is a great thing.

This is my first post here. I am happy to be part of this forum.

                Hi Tim,
                Welcome to the forum.

We have a few Wyndham owners here.
I'm sure you can teach us a thing or two.

And that 38.5K stay was a great deal.
I don't have VIP but I still enjoy my ownership.

I still get value out of my Wyndham points, but I'm in the process of downsizing to about 218,000 annually. I want to keep my Wyndham maintenance fees under $100 a month. We actually upped our DVC points and reduced the Wyndham points. I made a vow to myself that if I bought more of one thing, I'd reduce somewhere else.

I'm planning to downsize mine too and that's how I wound up here. Hoping to get some great advise on how to go about it and avoid the scams. I have 2 contracts with one being at Wyndham La Cascada (168,000 EOY even) in San Antonio and the other here in Nashville (105,000 annually). Thinking that the Nashville contract would be the best to sell.
I look forward to learning some very useful info here. Thanks for having me!

Keep us posted on how that goes.

DW and the girls in her family used to go to Fairham Nashville for Girls Week Out. Her sis worked at GOO, so that was good place.

I also own an EOY at Las Cascadas.
It's been good value for me so far.

I am not in Wyndham points. I so wish I was still being able to enjoy my EOY at Kona Hawaiian Village, but at this point I'd be happy just to unload it
