  • Fairfield Waikiki - Opens this weekend

Tonight, I decided to take a ride over to the Fairfield Waikiki to see how things are coming along. It looks really nice. I noticed a lot of cars in the parking structure and I saw several people with Fairfield standard issue towels. So, I stopped and asked some questions.

They were Fairfield employees who were brought in to check out the resort. Lots of them. They told me that the grand opening was going to be this Saturday. I am thinking about taking a walk in tour for no gift.

Looks really good. Everything is coming along very nicely.

I've started to see sightings for this, but so far, only studios.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Thanks for reminding me. I would have forgotten to bring to camera. Let me find out how to get on one of the first tours for the weekend. I'll take pictures of the model units. The last time I saw the resort was about a month ago. It has come a long way since then.

            Boca,
Would you take a picture of the street in front of the resort too if you can? I know it is being redone with stores, etc.

I can't wait to stay there for a week in January!

Went back to the FF Waikiki today

And, I took some pictures of the outside of the resort. I will post them later tonight or tomorrow.

I tried to sign up for a tour so I could see the units, but they are not offering them at the resort at this time. I went over to the Outrigger Reef to see if I could try there and they confirmed that all sales presentations will be held at that oceanfront hotel which is walking distance from Fairfield Waikiki.

I asked a bunch of questions to the checkin staff. They said that they did a soft opening on Nov 1 and the the grand opening was Dec 1. There are guests there now.

After seeing the resort close up, I am NOT impressed. Perhaps I will be when I see the units and when Beach Walk is completed.

At all the great Hawaii Resorts I have stayed, you always get that Ohana, Hawaii feel when you walk into the lobby area. It's true with the Ko'Olina, the Outrigger Reef Hotel and all the dozens of hotels I have stayed at on the Islands. You don't get that feeling at the Fairfield Waikiki. At least, not yet. It feels like a lower tier hotel the way it is currently set up. This is probably why they are not doing tours there yet. It's not impressive enough to command a $30k price tag. They need to add a lot of plants and flowers at a minimum. Right now, it is minimalist like you would find at an RCI standard resort.

I asked when the Beach Walk would be completed, the concierge at the FF Waikiki said in 6 months. It is coming along, but it doesn't look like it will be completed for at least 3 months. It should be nice when it's done. There will be a lot of restaurants and shopping which should partially make up for the fact that there is no beach within looking distance.

The units appear to have windows that angle out. The ocean is due south of the resort. But the view in that direction is blocked by the Halekulani Ocean front hotel and all of the other hotels on that strip of land. So, the units have windows that face southeast and southwest. I believe the southwest facing units will be blocked by the new Trump building. But, I won't be able to tell until they allow tours up in a model unit.

It's open now. I still have high hopes for this resort. I'm sure the interiors will be very nice. I can't wait to see what the views look like. We'll see soon enough.

                    BB,

Thanks for the review, and the pics. Wow, that pool really does look small, plus it looks like it has a view of a parking lot. Looks like it's real convenient to shops, and restaurants tho.

Thanks BB, it's fun to see the pictures. The location is great, that's for sure. I've stayed nearby at the Imperial Waikiki I think it's called and you can walk to everything.

Hi, BB...Thanks for the link. We'll be staying there in March, so we're delighted to get a preview. As the previous poster said, the location is one of the best for Waikiki (if not on the beach) Jean
