When a reservation is cancelled they become either cancelled or limited depending on when they were cancelled. They also state that These points must be used by the end of your Use Year End Date.

I understand all those rules, my question is this:

If the points come from different Use years end dates, which do they revert to?

I have use year end dates of 3/07, 6/07, 12/07 for this year. Took points from the first two and only have points left for this year ending in December, just wondering where the points will revert to when I cancel a couple of reservations?

    Thanks, David

    David,

The way I understand it is that the cancelled points should return to their original use years UNLESS you borrowed them from a future use year. For example if you borrowed some 2008 points for a 2007 point reservation and then cancelled it, all of the cancelled points would now have be part of your 2007 use year points.

With you having so many use year endings, you need to review your original transaction to see if you "borrowed" any points. If so, those cancelled points may be going into the nearest use year ending.

Anything that is not very clear defined, or seems very likely to have problem is considered as difficulty task to me. And when in doubt, call VC, tell them nicely about your concern, ask them what will happen. If what they say make you happy, ask them to perform the task.

If you have only one use year, it will be back the to trip start day.

With multiple use year day, it is a little tricky. I have multiple use year contracts too, I could not figure a really good patten about where it will go for sure. So I always ask VC if I think the use year is important. If I believe I will deposit to RCI anyway I will not care what happen to it. I guess if it is very easy to see from your contract that you probably used all the points in this contract or that contract, they will try to put in these contract first, if you don't say, since most of the time, they will use the contract that use year expired first, they will put them back by that.
However, VC can use points from any contract you want them to use, so they can put it back to where they see fit.

So, please be careful and don't misuse it, ask them nicely since it is close to a favor.

By the way, what happen to the point from 3/07 to 3/08 and 06/07 to 06/08? You ARP them all? How come your point left is 01/07 to 12/07? Since if you use them in 10 month, they always try to use the point expired first.

From the Wyndham web site where my reservations are listed.

        Cancellation Policy

If you cancel a reservation 15-30 days prior to the check-in date, your points will be returned to your account as Limited Account Points. For reservations cancelled more than 30 days in advance, your points will be returned as Cancelled Reservation Points.

          Cancellation Policy

If you cancel a reservation 15 days or more in advance of the check-in date, your points will be returned as Cancelled Reservation Points. For reservations cancelled less than 15 days prior to the check-in date, 100% of the FairShare Plus points used for the reservation will be forfeited.
