  • Buying converted weeks

I am looking at a Fairfield week that has been converted to points. If I buy it, does the point conversion come with it?

Or does FF only honor the conversion for the original owner?

The point conversion does come with it. Your deed will be for the fixed or float week you are buying. There is a separate assignment agreement between the/a prior owner and Fairfield that sets out the conditions of the use of FSP points and the number FSP points assigned for the week.

Along with a copy of the deed, you should ask for a copy of the assignment of the converted week to FSP.

Interestingly enough on these converted weeks, FF will presumably let you pull out of your conversion if you choose to. I think that this is one of FF worthless offers. Most people who buy points don't want fixed weeks. On the other hand circumstances change for some people, and if bought resale "you didn't pay for the original conversion anyway."

Acutally, it's not a worthless offer if you have prime week at the home resort! Also, at this point, a converted week is the only week you can ARP and actually deposit into RCI for online searching and trading. Something UDI points CANNOT do anymore.

Also, point for point, red fixed week maintenance fees are for the most part much lower for a converted fixed week than a UDI point deed.

More flexibility and less cost, yes, I guess it is worthless.
