  • Worldmark resorts on Fairfield website?

    What gives?

I finally get into the system today, and I notice that the Worldmark resort at Galena Illinois is listed on the map. I can click on it, get info, and click the button that says check for availability. When I try to check for availability, it is not listed.

Why can't I reserve it, if it is in the system? Why is it in the system in the first place? I must have missed this somewhere I guess.

At this point, you have to call FF/WVR reservations to try to book it. Just like you have to call for the new San Antonio La Cascada, New Orleans 2 resorts, the Wisconsin resorts.

So, it is available to us Fairfield points owners? It's not in the FF book, so I guess I have to call to even find out the points/week.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll try it for next year. Nice and close to home, and I hear there are very cool quilt shops in the area.

FF/WVR recently added several WM resorts that had not previously been available to FF owners.

I have a suspicion that these WM resorts will be used to exchange with FF resorts as a result of WM's new "Travelshare" program.

Historically, the number of units at WM resorts available to FF owners numbered only 1 or 2 units per week. Vice versa, the number of FF resort units to WM owners were only 1 or 2 units per week.

The current agreement between WM and FF for units as affiliate resorts will terminate at the end of 2007. At that point a new agreement for FF to book WM units will likely involve the WM Travelshare program. Under that program there should be more WM and FF units per week available to their respective owners. But, don't be surprised if a FF owner will be required to pay an exchange fee to stay in the WM units. From the WM side, it appears the Travelshare program requires a Travelshare WM owner to pay an exchange fee to reserve a FF unit through its new Travel Exchange Network (TEN).

What is unknown at this time is whether WM and FF will continue to have the 1 or 2 units per week at selected WM and FF resorts available for straight reservation bookings as in years past?

Adding to what Mike has posted, the WM units are made available to the FF/WYN online reservation system at strange times. I think all the 2007 units were eventually made available toward the latter part of 2006.

It was good for non-VIP owners, because many of the WM weeks weren't available until after the 10 month window had passed. So the VIP's had little opportunity to get WM units as part of their ARP - Associate location "benefits". In essence, this is a VIP benefit that can't really be used to get into WM before the non-VIPs.
