  • FF Resale/Points question

So if I purchase say 154K point resale on E-bay and then purchase another 77K point resale at the same resort can I combine the two points packages and use like 189K for a prime season week at the same resort? At a different FF resort?

When you purchase a 2nd contract under the same name, FF/Wyn will combine it into your account. There will be 2 separate contracts in your account. With your example, you will have 231,000 points assigned to the same resort.

Depending on whether the points are based on a converted fixed week or if they are UDI or converted float weeks will determine how you can reserve at your home resort during the 13 to 10 month Advance Reservation Priority period. From 10 months to check in date you can use your 231,000 points at any FF/Wyn resorts subject to availability, including your home resort.

Let's say that they are UDI, will those two contracts combined allow me the 13 month reservation date at the resort they are both located at (same resort)?

I'm not sure of your familiarity of the system, but depending where you want to travel, when and how far in advance you plan, you might be able to pull some great resorts in areas that you want to travel with low points deposits into your included RCI weeks acct.for the cost of the exchange fee, thus stretching those points and the amount of weeks you can get, with your points.

        Good luck!

Y-Ask, the contracts never really combine. They are in the same account.

With your scenario, yes, all points on UDI contracts at the same FF/Wyn resort can be used for the ARP period at that resort only.

My familiarity is low. I've been reading and I think I understand the basic concept. I'm not quite ready to jump into RCI or II with the purchases I've made and the ones (FF/WYN) that I might make in the future. We like to travel to Myrtle Beach every summer and we've been lucky enough to stay at Marriott's Oceanwatch as renters. But the cost is high and so are the resales for summer weeks so we are looking into alternatives. I figure buy where you want to stay at and then trade in to RCI or II every so often and see where you can go once there. Right now we're looking at SeaWatch Plantation for our 1st FF/WYN purchase if the price is right. Summer time is going to be very important to us as we have kids in school so that 13 month booking advantage seems like the right way to go...

              Y-Ask,

You seem to understand what you want. If you want Myrtle Beach in the summer, you should own there.

Since I've got your attention this evening what do you think a fair, good, and great price for 406K point Seawatch plantation (specified as 3 UDI contracts at same resort) would be?

Very good price, $4000 including costing costs, MF reimbursement. Probably hard to get at this price.

Very fair range is $.025 to $.01 per point before closing, MF etc.

If you are buying ebay, try to find the lowest closing costs you can. Some seller jack up the closing costs to make more profit. Therefore, determine what your top amount of total money you want to spend, subtract the closing, MF, etc. and adjust your bid price accordingly.

Are you using an ebay bidding snipe program? If not, you may want to look into it. I use bidnappers.

I just got back from a week at Ocean Blvd. in Myrtle Beach. As usual, we sat through a presentation and were offered to buy. We turned it down, but I inquired to the representative we were with about re-sale points that I see on eBay and such. He told me that if I bought a re-sale from eBay, those points could not be combined with my existing 308k points I have at Bonnet Creek (Orlando, FL). I should have asked more questions, but I was short on time (you know how those 45 minute presentations last like 2 hours anyway).

So, could someone explain what he's talking about? If I purchase, say, 154k resale points off of eBay (at some resort other than Bonnet Creek), would I be able to book the 4 BR Presidential @ Bonnet Creek in Prime Season (424k/week)? And if so, would I be able to do that as a 13 month ARP or only 10 month standard reservation? Lastly, if the 154k resale points from eBay were from Bonnet Creek, would that change whether or not I could do a 13 month ARP of the 4BR Presidential in Prime?

I hope my questions make sense.

If you buy resale at Bonnet Creek, then yes you can combine for a 13 month ARP there.

Otherwise, you will have to wait until 10 month window to book a full week at BC. You could use your 308K points to book the 4BR Presidential for four days at the 13 month ARP window, then wait until the 10 month window to book the other 3 days in the 4Br Presidential.

Thanks! So, technically within the 10 month time frame, all points (resale and direct from fairfield/wyndham) are "created equal".

That's correct - at 10 months out, points are points and can be used at any FF resort with available reservation inventory.

The latest salesperson lie is that if you buy resale, those UDI points "soon" will only be valid at the resale resort - it won't be valid at other FF resorts. Not to worry ... it isn't true.

Yes, you can. You can even ask to have them combined so the use year dates are the same.

ARP would be most important for either a 4 bedroom presidential at Bonnet Creek, or a summer week unit of any size at Myrtle Beach.

I recently bought more BC points, as I did not have enough to book a week in
pres. unit. I was never able to grab one at 10 months. If you spend a lot of time checking daily with FF/WYN, you might catch someone's cancellation.
I have no experience with Myrtle, but hear from many sources about calling at 8am on exactly the first day of the 13th month, to get summer weeks.

Keep watching ebay. Since early September, I saw the following auction wins at Sea Watch:
232,000 at .012 per point (all figures include bid, closing and transfer fee)
                              203,000 at .011 per point

                              High MF's at Sea Watch.

                              Bonnet Creek:
                              154,000 at .033
                              118,000 at .026

Lower MF's at BC, but all is subject to change, as we all know...
