  • Housekeeping Credits

I don't understand how they work.

We are thinking of getting a few days at Bonnet Creek to tack onto our Wilderness Lodge Villas one bedroom exchange for September. Will this short us in the housekeeping credit department? We have 154,000 points that we expect to close very soon.

    Cindy,

You get 1 HK for every 1,000 points. So you will have 154 HK with your 154,000 points. When you make a reservation, depending on the unit size and your length of stay, your HK credits will be deducted for that reservation.

Example, if you book up to 7 consecutive days at Bonnet Creek in a 2BR, you will need 77 HK for that reservation. Since you have 154 HK's, you will have 77 HK credits remaining afterward.

Where you can spend your HK credits faster than your points is where you make several small stays, 3 days here, 4 days there. Each time you book a 2BR, for example, you always use 77 HK for stays up to 7 days. So in the 3 day, 4 day example, you would use all of your 154 HK credits but your reservations may have used less than all 154,000 of your points.

Hope the information below helps explain HK credits for you.

    Housekeeping Credits

    What are Housekeeping Credits?

Housekeeping Credits refers to the major cleaning of a unit that takes place before you check into the resort. Each Use Year, you receive Housekeeping Credits in your account to use when making a reservation. You receive 1 Housekeeping Credit for every 1,000 FairShare Plus Points received annually. Example: A FairShare Plus Member who receives 77,000 Points annually receives 77 Housekeeping Credits.

    How do Housekeeping Credits work?

Each time you make one of the following reservations or transactions, Housekeeping Credits are deducted from your account.
    • FairShare Plus Resort Collection Reservations
    • Worldwide Exchange Deposits
    • Land and Sea Cruise Packages

The number of Housekeeping Credits you need to confirm a reservation is based on the length of the stay and size of the unit reserved. The larger the unit, the more housekeeping service is needed to clean the unit, therefore, larger units require more Housekeeping Credits. Please refer to the chart below.

Length of Stay: Hotel / Studio 1 Bedroom 2 Bedroom 3 Bedroom 4 Bedroom
    Up to 7 days: 28 63 77 140 154
    8-14 days: 56 126 154 280 308
    15-21 days: 84 189 231 420 462

Housekeeping Credits required for a lock off unit is the sum of Housekeeping Credits required for each unit.

For example, a 2 Bedroom lock off unit that is the combination of two 1 Bedroom units requires 126 Housekeeping Credits (63 + 63).

What else do I need to know about Housekeeping Credits?

    • If you use all of your Housekeeping Credits during your Use Year, that’s okay. Additional Housekeeping Credits may be purchased for $1.50 per credit.

    • Housekeeping Credits may not be used to purchase housekeeping services during your stay at the resort.

That's not bad at all. If I only have to pay $1.50 per credit, I can do those short stays without paying a whole bunch to do it.

      Thanks, Mike.

When you deposit 28K generic points into RCI and do not have any housekeeping credits, you just buy some for $1.50 each? That is the only thing you have to pay to use those points for last-minute Hawaii weeks in RCI?

Do those points even pull those Hawaii last-minute weeks? If they do pull all, then I think I found my points system.

If you have no or are short the 28 HK for the 28k deposit, you purchase them at the time you make the deposit with RCI.

Last minute Hawaii weeks for 28k. It happens often.

Airfare to Hawaii is so reasonable from Denver, even at the last minute!

I appreciate your quick answers to my questions, Mike!

For 28K you will probably only get generic deposit. So you either have to have your own week to do hold or call RCI VC to remind them to put on going search. And you do need to remember RCI can change its rule.

Otherwise, based on all these development in HI, I believe you found a system.

So with a generic deposit, there is nothing to search with? I see. So I just need to keep one week in my RCI account for searching, then hold the week and call in the morning. I can do that!

Yay! Rick will be happy to hear this too.

                  Cindy,

I just posted some RCI last minute Hawaii exchanges. I saw this with an 9/06 Inverness @ Walden Phase II 2BR; not a tiger, but ok trader.

At 11:00 Mountain Time, which is 1:00 a.m. Eastern Time, there were 17 resorts last night! There were no Shearwaters, but there were some really great ones, including a Kahana Falls two bedroom. I saw those with a very blue week. I see lots of last-minute Hawaii, every night!
