  • Did this FF auction go under the radar screen?

Am I missing something, but did someone get a phenomenal deal or what? AND in a great resort no less (eBay.ca: 1 MILLION Wyndham POINTS Fairfield GOLD Crown TIMESHARE (item 190136109152 end time 04-Aug-07 21:30:00 EDT)) - if a person were thinking about renting some units because they can't use all the points, summer in Myrtle Beach should be highly demanded.

Any FF experts want to comment? I was really thinking about this but the last I need is another system to learn (Besides, if I did, DW would have made sure I got treated for my addiction problem, permanently! )

The maintenance fees are WAY too high. So, it sold a bit under a penny per point. It would only be worth it to someone who was a platinum VIP and was renting out lots of weeks.

Were the MFs too high because of the resort & location or because it was a combination of 3 accounts? I know Myrtle Beach and HHI oceanfront resorts typically have higher MFs.

3 UDi deeds are OK vs a single UDI deed

Having three UDI deeds is OK, especially if someone wanted or needed to divide the deeds among their heirs or sell them off individually. FF won't split a single deed, so an owner can only put a large deed into a trust or partnership and have the co-owners / beneficiaries share the use of the points.

I've stayed here the last two Easter vacations and really liked the resort. The SeaWatch Towers units could stand to be updated, but otherwise its in a good location and has decent amenities and activities.

It books the July 4th week faster than FF's other Myrtle Beach resorts, in part because it costs less points vs. the Ocean Boulevard (OB) ocean front units or the Cottages. It may also have less units available compared to OB, since the Towers are part hotel and part whole ownership condos.

I have been looking for another unit and it is funny how what seems like a good deal is often not such a good deal when put in the proper perspective!

Ken you are right! I also got into FF/Wyn (which is why I initiated the chatroom chat...yeah, selfish motive, LOL). I looked at all the maint fees in relation to points...some looked really expensive, like most of the Myrtle Beach and other SC coastal properties. UDIs in general seem to have the priciest costs to hold em. Having said that, I did buy a 105K UDI package, resale, at Fairfield Alexandria because 1) I don't think you can go wrong with an urban location like that 2) I used to live in metro DC and go back often, so I'd use the pts for a stay, and I like the idea of owner priority (although I haven't utilized it yet).

I can't imagine owning a million points anywhere, unless of course I were a millionaire!

I think that this is a great deal for someone who would want to stay there. If you are looking for point are points, then this is not a great deal. If you want to stay at a FF in MB, then Seawatch is a great place especially because the points needed are much much less than at the newer Fairfield resorts in Myrtle Beach. We are talking 203,000 points at Seawatch for 2 br prime time ocean front towers vs 550,000 points for a 2 br ocean front upper view prime time unit at Ocean Blvd.

I do know what I have been renting our 4th of July week there for, but if rental profit is what you are looking for then there are much better FF places to own at (not Ocean Blvd though).
