It's debateable whether this is going to happen or whether instead both groups will suffer losses to TUG and Timeshareforums.

The new home is divided up into 61 Forums which makes tracking what's going on difficult. There are no email digests and no ability to get individual emails either.

You get logged off after an hour.

Every time you log back in the list of new posts is reset.

Many people prefer the old Yahoo! format and are not joining the new board.

Many people resent being forced to the new board by dint of preventing new members from joining the 4100 on Yahoo!

New owners may get their questions answered more easily here.

Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Sour grapes and having it spill over into another forum/bbs is not beneficial for anyone.

To the best of my knowledge, it is not debatable as to whether or not the YAHOO Group will be accepting new members, as the list owner has indicated that there will be no new members on the old site. The only thing that is debatable is whether or not the new site will have the same 4,100 members that the old YahooGroup had. As Stan pointed out, there are some who are choosing to not make the move which over time, will probably have an adverse affect on the quality of information being provided at the YahooGroup as the majority of contributing members have made the move to the new group location.

        New Fairfield/Wyndham site

I really like the format of the new site for Wyndham/FF owners. It is very similiar to this board and to TUG. Searching for past information is soooo much easier than on the Yahoo! site. I tried searching at Yahoo! and could not get good results, even knowing that the subject had been discussed in the past.

I think when the email option becomes available on the new site, more people will switch over. No eMail format seems to be the objection that many people have at this time. Time will tell I guess.

Exactly my point. The new owner has absolute power over ten years of work and 4100 members.

I would accuse the new owner of "sour grapes". Hundreds or thousands of people won't switch to the new board, so they must be punished.

It's my ball, play by my rules or I'll take my ball and go (to my new) home.

If the new board is so far superior why not beat the old board in a fair competition of ideas and formats?

I don't understand the sour grapes reference otherwise. I frequent all four websites, I just resent the use of force.

It took 7 months to accumulate the 51 votes to ratify the ratify the move, hardly a sweeping mandate for change on a group with 4100 members.

Unfortunately, there is no appeal process.

It's a matter of principle, just because one has absolute power over something doesn't mean one has to exercise it.

            An Apology

Glenn deserves an apology from me. We have diametrically opposed views of the "Ownership" of the Yahoo! Group.

Everyone will have to make their own decision as to which view they think is correct.

Glenn feels that he took over complete and absolute ownership of the Yahoo! Group when he petitioned Yahoo! to make him the OWNER. As owner he feels he is the final arbiter of the interpretation results of all polls and that his sense of the mission of the group is the only one that counts. His word is law and breakers of his laws will be banned.

My opinion is that the OWNERSHIP of a Yahoo! group is a technical requirement of the Yahoo! Group software. In my view, the owner is a trustee of the tradition of the group and a temporary guardian of the office. I view the owner much like the President of the United States.

Glenn has acted in good faith according his world view and I was overly aggressive in describing the results and methods of the polling. I was overly aggressive in describing his motives.

I freely admit that Glenn's Yahoo - Fairfield Timeshare Group has moved to a new home.

In my heart, I feel that the heart and soul of the old group remains on Yahoo!, even if the name and ownership have moved on.

I apologize to everyone that was offended by the fiery rhetoric.

This will be my last post on this subject.
