  • RCI "pulling power" with FF points ...generic vs visible

    I am a newbie...
I got a visible online searchable deposit with 42K FF 2007 points...Branson White Studio...
Searching a 2 week period starting 6/27/2008, for Tenn & Kentucky
    It pulls: 3 resorts:
Diamond Caverns Resort & Golf Club (#3898)
    Available Unit Size: 2 - 2 Check-in Date: 06/27/2008

Oakmont Resort (#2209)Pigeon Forge, TN 37863, USA
    Available Unit Size: 1 - 1Check-in Date: 07/04/2008

Grandview Lodge at Fall Creek Falls (#6928) Spencer, TN 38585, USA
    Available Unit Size: 2 - 2Check-in Date: 06/27/2008

I then tried a 28K and then a 42K generic search first with 2008 points...
They both pulled a Wyndham Glade 1 bedroom that the visible did not pull but neither pulled the Grandview...

I have heard that the generics should pull more... so that might explain the visible not pulling Glade, but if they have more pulling power, then they should pull the Grandview...

    No explanation from RCI.

I am confused. Shouldn't one pull more and one less, not each totally different within seconds of each others searches ?

What is the actual week on that visible deposit? And what is the actual available week in that resort come from if you just take a radom guess?

RCI's trading power the 1st 2 determined factors are
Supply and demand of the resort/week you deposit and supply and demand of the Area.

So the actual week is important.

    Now think it a while.

How will anyone try to write something to determine the supply and demand?

Supply maybe fixed at the time a deposit is happen. But demand is not. There will be a lot of assumption.

That means, there will be a lot of small things RCI can do that will make it totally wrong.

Generic usually should have better than avg. trading power, but that means nothing. RCI is known to want to compensate 1 group v.s another. The best known example is VEP. However, RCI will not be possible to do that on each individual week. What I say is, RCI can easily keep a whole group's generic deposit unable to see a particular resort deposit, but will not be able to do that on actual week deposit.

Overall, if you search 40 or 60 different area against different visible deposit, you wll find the generic will be better than avg. But on different cases, especially if deposit is from a strong resort, things will get treaked because one developer wants to, and that will totally change your match ability.

The generic wll be better is because RCI can do much better with generic, and all developer does deposit some of its new week into RCI which will be counted into these generic week.
