  • Thinking of selling my Wyndham points

I am looking for advice from a group with a lot of timeshare knowledge.
I own 616,000 annual points deeded at the Wyndham Mountain Vista Resort in Branson, MO. I purchased these at retail and know that I will be taking a huge hit but I haven't a clue where to start with an asking price. I would appreciate your assistance. Thanks!

Since your resale buyer won't get your VIP 'benefits' you can check eBay and see what the market will bear. .01/point = ~$6K.
... not enough time for all the timeshares ®

Much depends on the reason you are thinking of selling.

If it is in any part due to you are not getting the trades you want then you should look to the site referenced above by Paul.

In fact, if we knew the reason you are thinking of selling then probably you could get assistance and advice here. I wouldn't give up a Gold membership without investigating possible options.

As to the value received on a sale, Branson doesn't have an especially low MF structure and the $10 per K points probably would be on the high price for an Ebay sale, so expect something south of $6,000 perhaps.

Of course you may luck into an inexperienced buyer who is looking exactly for what you are offering.

            Unable to travel as much

The reason I am selling is that my situation has changed and I am unable to travel as much as I used to so I end up with thousands of points that I either have to lose or bank with II....and then eventually lose them anyway.
For instance....my use year ends the end of June and I still have over 500,000 points to use before then. Thanks for the info shared thus far.

Unless you are willing to put it on eBay now, you will still need to solve these 500,000 points.

I don't believe you ar member of old Yahoo Group. try to register in new Wyndham owner group Wyndham Resorts Forums • Index page
then look at rental forum, it has instructions how to rent your points, and post your points to rent this year's point out.

It is a little late, otherwise, I believe you are gold VIP member, and you could ese points into credit pool before Jan 2008 and rent out next use year points in a later day (say March April this year).

                renting your points

Renting your points really is a viable option. My budget is tight right now, and I rented out lots of my points last year, and will do so again this year. It was very fast and simple. (and I'm not a computer whiz or anything) All the transactions were done via email. Terrific! I did have my renter send me money via paypal, so the transaction (both paying and moving the points) took less than a day. You already have the capital invested; you could at least cover your maintenance fees, and perhaps make a hundred or two, or three.

                  Thanks

Many thanks to all....it looks like renting the points out is a viable option for now and who knows, my situation may change in a year or so and I will once again be able to travel more.

Glad renting points will work. At least it gives a delay to regroup.

With a use year of June 30, you want to get them out there ASAP, people can rent from Wyndham at $5/K within 90 days and in a little over a month that maybe the price you will be offered.

                      Hello
I saw your post regarding Selling Wyndham points. More importantly I saw the replies! All of them seem to be very down on the possibility of getting any value for your points.

I wanted to put a different perspective on this. You CAN get much better value for your points IF you have someone who know HOW to Market them in the same way YOU first bought them Hence "Marketing" Reasons?

First the resorts are still selling at their HIGH rate and financing. I know the Timeshare industry along everyone else has taken a hit BUT people are still buying. I personally have acquired buyers for my company. Just recently I found a couple looking to get a 3bdr LO float in Florida! He wanted to get something like "their friends" have. It seems there are still people wanting to keep up with the jones's .

You have to realize that marketing =positioning meaning we only target people who already have the value established and people who have recently been at a tour. They have already been sold on the idea.. they are just looking for a discount.. that does NOT mean a "fire sale" price.

Bottom line a professional company with a proven track record (not a listing company) Can and will look and find you buyer willing to pay YOU a fair value for your Timeshare. Wyndham resale about 6-9 cents. But certainly not as low as .01

You have to Re-sell Wyndham points the same way you got them..If you look on e-bay and classifieds and listing company sites sure you will see fire sale prices. The resorts did not sell YOU your timeshare that way! Why do you think that will be the way it will re-sell that way?

                      Marketing!

You can send me a e-mail if you like to talk more

                      Thanks
                      Carl

Carl---do you charge an up-front fee for marketing a property? If so, how much?

                          Carl,

I am a resale broker myself. At this point, I give it a 90% probability that you are a scammer.

If you are selling at $.06-.09/point, I'll supply you 10,000,000 points this month for $.03/point.

No money upfront, you get paid when the deals close and transfers are completed.

10,000,000 points at $.03/point would be $300,000 to me. Your profit would be between $300-600k.

If your business model is real, you should be willing to front the cash to make that type of money. If not, you are full of s***. In fact, I'll give you a 33% discount if you pay in cash upfront.

Please come out and post more. We can't support anyone as a legit resale company without tremendous due diligence. If you pass, you will have unlimited business.

                              Carl,

If you give me 2 months, I'll get you 100,000,000 points. That's $3-6M in profit all for $2M cash upfront. How can any businessman turn down that deal?
