  • To make a reservation using 2009 points....

...do u have to pay the MF first?
I think the answer is no - because it seems most pay monthly but I just wanted to check.

Also, if you want to deposit a 28K or 77K week into RCI/II using the current years (2008) points - do you have to pre-pay the MFs?

It is closer than you may think.

I have some confusion about anniversary dates

I am looking at ownerships that say....

Points issued on Oct 1, 2008....and are good until Sept 30,2009

Soooooooo, If I wanted to make a reservation in Orlando/wherever for Oct 15, 2009 - does this mean I can not do it until my Oct 1, 2009 points are 'issued' on Oct 1 2009?

Or does it mean I can make the points reservation 10 months before on Dec 15,2008 using those 10/09 to 10/10 points?

No, it is issued since you saw them (actually, it usually is 13 month before teh use year start). So make reservation now.

I am sorry, this is still confusing to me....but I think you mean they are actually THERE now - u just have to use the points that fall within your 'reservation time'?

and I thought you could only reserve your home resorts at 13 months - other resorts at 10 months???

Sorry to confuse you. You can start to use your point 13 month before the use year start. Thus you can ARP your home resort. You still need to wait till 10 month before the use year start to use it on other resorts.

So in your case, your use year is Oct. So if you want to make Oct 9, 2009 reservation (home resort), you can start on Sept 9th,2008 (depend on leap year or non leap year things and start check in days of the unit there could be a few days different). And the point is Oct 2009 to Sept 2010 point (the time the trip start).

Don't ask what will happen if your trip is across different use year, I believe it is the point from the starting day, but I have never try that one yet).

Sounds like you want to make this Oct trip, so you can do it now, it will be Oct 2008 - Sept 2009 points.

                  Enjoy it.

                  Jya-Ning

ps. By the way, how long does it take to get all the transfer completed for you?

LOL, now I am confusing you!

I was just giving u an example - no, I am not going to Orlando in October 2009 - at least not yet!

I am still waiting for the closing of my 'little' package of 49K points to establish my ownership in II...and shopping around for a large 378K+ package to add to it.
                    I understand now what u r saying.....thanks!

And if I wanted to switch to monthly payments - it would start in Jan 2009?

                            Pat,

I was just looking at the example in the Wyn/FF directory about Use Years. The example given for Oct 1, '07 to Sep 30, '08 and was designated as 2008 points. So Oct 08 to Sep 09 would be 2009 points.

So my previous answer was inaccurate. I will correct that post.

As far as paying MF, I believe that they are collected on a calendar year basis, with adjustments made at the beginning of each calendar year. Depending on what 2008 calendar year MF the seller has paid will determine when you would start paying MF to Wyn/FF. You need to check that out with the seller, closing co., and Wyn/FF. Wyn/FF won't complete the transfer of the contract into your account unless MFs are current.

                            HTH.

Because u know I REALLY want to start ownership in 2009 and avoid those 2008 SA fees.

I can only access the owners guide online - I can't wait to get my hands on my own hard copy.....I really need to get a life, don't I ??

You can access some info about the 'time line' of the donation of the TS to the charity auction people - and since the fees were due during the transfer of ownership and they are telling I don't owe anything until the Oct 1, 2008 payment, I would assume it is paid up to date .... however, I know I need to do my homework...would the estoppal show if there were outstanding MFs at this time?
I actually might end up with the 2008 points without additional cost - will have to see what happens.
